I love this hot sauce! It might not be for everyone but I love the heavy pepper flavor and the slow burn that comes with it. FYI, you will need to shake the bottle quite a bit each time you use it.

I saw this hot sauce on the newest season of Hot Ones and was immediately intrigued so I thought I’d give it a try. Unfortunately it’s not anything I care for and probably will not finish it. This is my first oil based hot sauce and it’s clear why it’s my first, most hot sauces are vinegar based. The oil base separates the ingredients from the oil that sits on top in the bottle. You have to shake the heck out of the jar to mix it up. Even after vigorously shaking the bottle, once I pour it on my food it always separates and leaves a pile of hot ingredients on the food and a puddle of oil on the plate. If I pour the hot sauce into a small dipping dish it separates within minutes and anything that I dip in the sauce dish comes out covered in a spicy oil but leaves the dark ingredients in the bottom of the dish. It’s all rather unpleasant and I don’t care for it. The only application I’ve found this sauce to be redeeming is to spice up non red sauce pasta dishes and for dipping the bread that is usually served with said pasta into it. Other than that the oil based sauce is not good. The flavor of the heat is definitely unique but not necessarily in a good way. It has an earthy smoky flavor but it’s hard to nail down because the spicy oil just costs your mouth and if you’re lucky enough (unlucky?) to get some of the dark black ingredients it’s in a clump and therefore too much at once. The whole experience is just not for me. Of course this is just my opinion and there are a lot of people who have given this sauce rave reviews so take mine with a grain of salt. Happy tasting!

Funny, when I received my subscription this bottle was broken and sauce all over the box. However, it smelled soo good! They replaced it immediately. Now, I've used it several times. One of my favorites. Oily mouth consistency, very smokey garlicy flavor. You could easily use this for cooking, marinating, or just adding it to food.

I bought the season 15 10-pack and I loved every single one of them, except this one. Tbh I'm really surprised when I read the reviews: Most people have good things to say about this sauce, but out of the 7 guests I had, no one liked this sauce.

Darn, we're sorry to hear that! This sauce can definitely be a bit divisive being oil based and on the smoky/bitter side. We love it in marinades, chilli or on tacos, so we usually suggest cooking with it. Chat with us or email us at ilovehotsauce@heatonist.com if you want more recommendations for how to enjoy!

If you know what Mi Goreng noodles are, this sauce smells and tastes exactly like the 'flavor oil' sachet that comes with Mi Goreng. The sauce is runny so you need to use a fair amount to get the full flavor, but the flavor is nice and the heat isn't overbearing. Do recommend.

This sauce has good flavor (especially after you shake it like a polaroid picture), but my issue with it is the heat--which is fine, at first--just lingers way too long (likely because it's an oily sauce). If you like that, cool, you'll love this sauce. I don't care for that quality, as it drowns out the flavor of the sauce (and anything else I eat for the next 20 minutes) with the burning in my mouth. I find that quality very disappointing. My husband, who normally HATES heat, absolutely ADORES this sauce. Because, as I mentioned, the heat isn't that bad, and he doesn't mind that it lingers for about 20 minutes.
