About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “Arrived quickly for our grandson's 4th birthday. He loves playing chess and this physical experience is an ideal start for him. The pieces are light and the board is solid. This fosters a concentration on slow, considered moves.”

“Great craftsmanship and excellent packaging and design. Pieces are a little smaller than I expected, and the padding underneath them isn’t the best quality and aren’t stuck on fully. Still, a very nice set.”
