About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “Unfortunately the first board I received had scratches and marks on it so a replacement was sent. The new board had visible joins in the wood and the printed black outline was not centred. As this is a gift I felt the quality wasn't good enough for the Chess set to be gifted. The picture on the website doesn't show any visible joins in the wood and I expected the board to look like the one advertised. I contacted Jaques on the 24th November 2020 but I still have not had a reply 2 weeks later.”
