In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “The pieces are fun and beautifully painted, my grand daughter loved playing with this set. However it could be so much better. The head pieces for the mother and father bear are only very subtely different, difficult to see at first glance even for an adult which leads to frustration in trying to fit them into the wrong spaces, they would be better if they were the same or completely different. However, the most annoying thing about this set is that the lid is not secure, it just sits on top of the box so tip it slightly and everything falls out, we have only had it a week and already there are pieces in the car, at the bottom of various bags and under the sofa - it would be so much better with a secure slide in lid.”
