“We ordered 15 chicks October 2019, they all arrived alive and seemingly well! We did lose two the first few days, most likely due to transport, but the other 13 are thriving! You can tell mypetchicken cares because they followed up to see how my chicks were when I emailed them telling them the two were sick. Of the 13, 5 were from the rare breed assortment, and none of them are the same breed! We got an olive egger, partridge rock, cream legbar, silver laced wyandotte, and a buff brahma! The silver laced was one of the sick ones but the other four are thriving, with such personalities! The cream legbar jumps out of her coop and sits on my shoulder every day! I absolutely love them and will order again!”
“My chicks arrived on time and none were sick or died. The assortment of chicks I received were indeed mixed and there is enough to start a flock of separate breeds. I ordered 50 and think this is a great company to order from.”
“We ordered 12 assorted chicks and they were delivered the last week of February. All are extremely friendly none look the same. Still a surprise for what they are. I can't figure it out. But they sure have been fun. Wish I could attach a picture. Thank you!”
“Got our assortment of rare breeds today and the smile on my daughters face priceless. We ordered 8 and looks like we got 5 different types. My daughter is so excited .thanks for everything”
“I understand they are just filling orders, trying to get rid of the surplus they have. I was just a little disappointed with what was sent (2 EEs and 1 Andalusian), I wouldn't consider EEs rare (and neither would Mypetchicken according to their EE description under "chicken breeds")... but they all seem healthy and I saved .26 cents on each. What's more important is that the other 5 (SBELs) that I really wanted made it safely so that's really all that matters. I just needed to met the 8 chick minimum. Would have been nice to receive actual "rare" breeds but all is well. They all came in fine and are doing well.”
“I ordered 12 of the mystery pack plus 3 Easter Eggers (wanted add some more color to our eggs bc we love our current Easter Egger that we got a couple years ago from my pet chicken). The chicks arrived OK but unfortunately, within 48 hours, 3 died. There were 3 chicks that looked identical (and 2 were very small and somewhat weak) so I originally assumed those were my Easter Eggers‚Äî2 of those died. Now, I‚Äôm not so sure if those were the Easter Eggers. The lone one seems to be doing well but is still smaller than all the rest. A 3rd one that died was a mystery black one, but I believe it had a crop issue as it was foaming at the mouth.
The rest of the chicks are all doing great and all look very different at 10 days old. We are so excited to see what they turn out to be. Every time I think I‚Äôve identified one, I change my mind. I still have some suspicions (Brahma or Cochins, blue Andalusian, multiple clean footed super fluffy chicks with heavy beards, Marans) but when they mature, I‚Äôll try to post the list.”
“Happy that our order arrived on time and healthy, they are all growing fast!
That being said, I’d be wary of ordering this rare “assortment” in the future though, because we have literally no way of telling (at least until they are a few months of age) what breeds we received.
The identification pictures are somewhat helpful, but lack anything to show scale/size, and are somewhat low resolution. Tons of baby chicks of different breeds look EXACTLY alike!
I‚Äôll try to update this in the future, once we figure out what breeds we actually received!”
“I ordered five of the rare assortment along with several other chickens that I picked out. I was very excited to see what I would get. The selection of chickens they sent me turned out to even surpass my expectations! I was sent a Black Sumatra, a Golden Laced Wynadotte, a Silver-laced Wynadotte, a Buckeye and a Frost White Legbar!!!!! I really didn't expect that last chicken as it isn't on the list of possible chickens but I was very happy to receive it! All my chicks are doing very well and arrived happy and healthy!”
