They forgot to actually put this in my order. So can’t recommend or not recommend.

The Marans are super cuddly, they like sitting with you while you watch TV, so happy with this breed

Marah, my black copper maran, is 3 weeks old now; beautiful and growing nicely. So far it appears she'll be "second in command" behind the Welsummer chick. She is busy but calm, and quite inquisitive. Of the 5 chicks, she seems content to remain in the background and be invisible when the others are in drama-mode.

My BCM is 4.5 months old and laid her very first little egg today! It wasn't as dark as I expected, more of a medium brown, and I heard that this will be the darkest so was a bit disappointed, but she is a sweet little girl overall. She's not overly friendly, in that she doesn't often seek me out like several other of her "sisters" do (other breeds I also purchased from MPC at the same time), but everyone has their own unique personality. When they are out free ranging, she seems to like to go off on her own, so more independent. But overall a nice little hen.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful review! Congratulations on your Black Copper Marans’ very first egg—that’s always such an exciting milestone. It’s common for those first few eggs to come out much smaller and lighter in color; as she continues to lay, you may notice the shells deepen to that rich chocolate brown the breed is known for. We love that she’s showing her own independent streak—every flock needs a free spirit! It sounds like she’s a lovely addition to your flock, and we’re so glad you’re enjoying her unique personality.

I had such a great experience with mypetchicken Superteam as a first time chicken person : ) each step of the way. Two of my 9 girls, Augusta and Octavia are black copper marans. 20 days old today and they are super sweet, smart and curious!! I call them the wise ones of the pack.

Thank you for your kind words. We are so glad our team could help make your first experience such a positive one. Black Copper Marans really do have a reputation for having varied personlities, so it is no surprise Augusta and Octavia have earned the title of “the wise ones.” Every flock needs a pair of philosophers to keep the others in line. We hope they continue to be both the brains and the charm in your new flock!
