“This bird is beautiful, but I probably wouldn't get another for my little flock. She's my flightiest, and is scared of everyone. She's also sort of mean and aggressive to my other birds for no reason. That being said, she does make me laugh. We named her Ducky, because she acts like a duck, and she sounds like a dog chewing on a squeaky toy.”
“I ordered one buff Orpington and 2 blue/black splash orpingtons. They are healthy and look great! They are eating and drinking without any issues. Very pleased with my order.”
“This Orpington unfortunately is not growing. I feel so bad for her and she was one of the more expensive in the group. I’m doing all I can but I understand she may not live too long. She is the dark chick next to the buff Orpington of the same age.”
Thank you Debbie for leaving a review on your Blue/Black/Splash Orpington chick. We will reach out to you directly about your chick. Sometimes it can be that the chick is just developing slower.
“We have 2 BBS Orpingtons that came from MPC. Both girls are now 14 weeks old and thriving. I will say 1 of my 2 are very slow growing. When the others were fully feathered out, Bertha still had most of her down and only her wing feathers. Over the last 4 weeks, she has developed most of her feathers finally, but she's still much smaller than the rest of the girls. None of my girls have started laying so I can't comment on the egg color/quantity. Of my 3 breeds, these 2 girls don't like to be held. George let me pick her up but only wants to perch (so I'm training her to perch on my shoulder) and Bertha just runs in the opposite direction when I try to hold her. Even so, they are friendly and I would definitely recommend them!”
Hello Elizabeth, Thank you for taking the time to author this review of the Blue, Black, Splash Orpingtons. We are happy to hear your chickens are doing well. There are many reasons why one chicken may develope quicker than another. We would be happy to discuss this with you further. In the meantime Bertha seems to be on track and catching up. I personally have orpingtons as well. They all have different personalities. Some are lap chickens and others are calm, but would just assume be left alone. You should start to see egg laying at the 20-22 week mark.
Thank you very much for your review of our little Blue/Black/Splash Opringtons! We are so happy to hear this little one is bringing you happiness! My Pet Chicken looks forward to being able to help you in the future!
