Baby Chicks: Buff Orpington Female Reviews

4.8 Rating 117 Reviews
Of the four breeds I ordered, these girls are the most curious and daring. I've never had orpingtons, and I'm impressed with their curiosity. They are the first to eat, first to try new foods. I can see already who will be leading the flock.

Oh, the orpingtons are a favorite of many flock keepers and just for the reasons you provided here! They are curious, intelligent and so very sweet! They are often recommended as one of the breeds for new flock keepers and as welcome additions to any backyard flock! We hope you have many years of great fun with these babies as well as your other flock members!

I know it's early for a review because I just received my little gals this morning, but I wanted to share with everyone how wonderful, friendly, and healthy my chicks are. Farm store chickens we've had in the past would run away anytime my hand came near them. The bundles of joy that I received today are happy to be petted, hand fed, and even picked up. Just one of my three chicks is a Buff Orpington. I also received a Silver Laced Wyandote, and a Speckled Sussex.. If anyone is reading reviews trying to decide if they should get their chicks from MyPetChicken, the answer is YES! An all around wonderful experience.

We ordered two of these little Buffys along with a Black Copper Maran, Lavender Dream Easter Egger and a Barred Rock. They all arrived healthy and strong, are now 6 weeks old, and growing like weeds. We love our Buff Orpingtons, and are excited to have them in our flock! Their names are Goodie and Nancy Drew. Goodie is the bravest girl in the group and always the first to run up to us when we open the coop door. Nancy is a bit shier, but a lovebug once you have her in your arms. Shipping Note: We were very nervous ordering chicks by mail. My Pet Chicken did their best to assure us along the way when we called to ask questions. Their customer service is excellent. Being in an urban area, we were concerned that the post office would not know how to handle livestock orders. We got an update that the chicks had shipped late Monday morning. Tuesday we got a notification that they had arrived at our local post office. We immediately drove over to pick them up, as per MPC's instructions, however, they had already been loaded onto the truck for delivery to our home! This is against USPS policy, and not the fault of MPC. I think our post office just didn't have any experience with this kind of thing. We waited breathlessly for about 4 hours but eventually the mail truck pulled up and delivered our sweet babies! We heard them chirping and were so relieved when we opened the box to find them all alive and well! I would definitely order from MPC again.

Our buff orpington is a cute, round little thing. We call her our little "fluffbutt" (not her name, just a nickname), because her body shape looks so different from our other chicks.

These little ones are so fluffy and cute, it's not any wonder they're so popular! We're glad your little fluffbutt is no different, Bethanie!

At the time there were no buff orpington chicks but My Pet Chicken contacted me right away and replaced the buff Orrington with a even better chick.

We LOVE her! She is the sweetest little chick! She came the next day, healthy but scared from transport. I have never ordered chicks online before so I was very nervous. My experience was great! I will definitely order from my pet chicken again!

Update- one chick turned out to be a rooster instead of a hen. For the reviewer who said their chick sounded like a rooster, it very well could be. Thankfully, we know a chicken breeder who took him, as he was too possessive of the hens and didn’t want me around them, to the point of charging me.

We were so very sorry to read of a sexing error on your order! We offer a live bird sexing error guarantee and we will refund you for any bird that has been incorrectly sexed, provided we are notified within the appropriate time frames. For breeds except silkies, that is between 14 to 22 weeks of the original ship date. Silkies take a bit longer to mature so they get a few more weeks and have until 19-30 from their ship date. We have reached out to you directly about your sexing error. Again, we are sorry for this error!
