“This breed is renowned for its charming, affectionate personality, but I never expected to be fall so utterly in love with a chicken. From the time my Orpington was a day old chick, she was running over to me to be held, and she has seemed happiest in my hands (now arms/lap). When I am crouched down gardening, she hops on my shoulder and hangs out there like a pet parrot. She is smart, too, and always the first bird (versus the slower Eastereggers and the doodle-headed buckeye) to figure things out. Last but not least, she is beautiful.
