Baby Chicks: Buff Orpington Female Reviews

4.8 Rating 117 Reviews
We did a lot of research about which breed to get for our first chickens. We love them like pets and have experienced how awesome they are first hand but we know they are the friendliest because of what we hear from other chicken keepers about their breeds. Every animal has their own personality, and we do have one Orpington who just does not want to be held. She is friendly and not aggressive, but she just wants her own space. Our other two are complete cuddle bugs. They will jump up on my lap and fall asleep! They are really food driven but I think they also just like to see us. We did raise them as chicks in the fall and I spent a ton of time with them. You can get a friendly breed but you get back what you put in and I hope the time we spent with them made them even more friendly. They are also amazing layers. We got them as chicks in the fall and they started laying the following spring. Our first summer isnt over yet and we are getting an egg a day from all three!

We absolutely love our buff orpingtons. They arrived happy and healthy. They are 3 months old now, super friendly and have great personalities. We let them free range our yard and they do great with my 3 year old son! Can’t wait to order more chicks from my pet chicken next year .

We have had our babies for about a week and a half and they are heartbreakingly cute! We split an order of 17 chicks with friends and they all arrived happy, healthy, and adorable! Our Buff is the most mellow of the bunch (we have a Buff, Plymouth Barred Rock, and a Green Queen Easter Egger) and such a beautiful golden yellow. She found the food and water nipple right away and is so sweet with the kids! The customer service team has been amazing answering all of my questions, (new chicken owner). I highly recommend!

We got our Buff Orpinington, Sunshine, a little less than a year ago. She is a little small and never developed all of her toenails, but we love her anyway. She is the sweetest hen and loves to be held and petted or even just to scratch around near you. Sometimes I think she prefers her human 'flock' over her real one! Despite her small size, she easily lays the biggest eggs of our little flock. She has laid one almost every day for the past three months and hardly ever misses a day. Her eggs a pale beige, that's really closer to an off white. They are almost all identical and are usually a squat shape that is almost a sphere, without much of a pointy end. I HATED to take off a star because of her size and lack of nails. She is a truly wonderful bird with an amazing personality. Thank you MPC!

I ordered several chicks from mpc, australorp, brahmas, silkies, buff orpingtons and wyandotte. Penny is the most precious of them all,i can't even Express the love between the two of us. I call her name she comes running to me for me to pick her up and cuddle her. If I'm busy she will hop on my shoulder and just sit there. She's been my favorite from the time i opened the box after picking them up ,she was the first to come out and greet me. Feeding time she was the first to jump on my hand. I adore her and i really hope she lives a long and happy life here with me. Love Penny's Mom
