“Have this set up for soon-to-arrive chicks, but it looks like it will work great in the coop in the winter. The price was considerabley less than other on-line sellers, including Amazon and Ebay.”
“Our 9 bantams are in a very small (approx. 3' X 4' X 3') coop. Initially, we mounted the heater to the back wall of the coop, but the roosts are very close to the wall and I was worried that the heater would burn the chickens, as the heater does get too hot to touch even on low. My husband ended up attaching brackets and hanging from the center of the coop. This worked great and coop stays cozy as name suggests. We are only in SC, so it does not get crazy cold here.”
“well, I'm not really quite sure how I feel about it. It does let me sleep better not having to worry about my coop going up in flames with that heat lamp!!
I immediately swapped out heat units to the new heater. The high setting was quite warm and the lower setting was still warm, just as it stated. But for the life of me,,,can not figure out if it is really warm in the coop. It's a small coop, 5 chickens; and I mounted it on the wall at the same level as their perch. Not one of the girls have complained, I sleep better, and remember the "old days" when NO CHICKENS had heaters!! :) I feel I have done my best, and I am happy with the heater. If my coop was bigger, I would buy two.”
“I purchased this with the intent of using it for baby chicks (as recommended), but it barely radiates heat. Panel is hot to the touch, but 1 inch away and the temperature is barely 70F (inside a room temperature house). It might help older chickens in the dead winter, but useless to me right now.”
“I love this heater. I don't have to worry about bulbs burning out, stands getting knocked over or trying to adjust distance/temperature ratios. The chicks run around doing "chickie" stuff and nap by the heater when they're tired. I see no signs of stress or discomfort in the chicks, and its much safer than a heat lamp.”
“I would not recommend this heater for purchase, if chicken house is any bigger than a large doghouse. I purchased two of these heaters and it does not heat my chicken house. Chicken house is about a 10 x 12‚Äò.”
