Baby Chicks: Golden Laced Wyandotte Female Reviews

4.8 Rating 77 Reviews
I have 1... meanest of the bunch to the others. She is the top of the pecking order - just under the Rooster. Give them treats, she eats - but if you're in her way, whallop on the head. Beautiful bird - just beautiful. But damn, what a DIVA!

We bought six chicks. I gave them a lot of attention and handled them quite a bit. Great layers. Two ran off (that was my fault) one passed away (we dont know why). Bought a few hens from a friend. They get along well. Looking to buy more chicks from my pet chicken.

I got two and a hawk got one): But Lacy has been laying for about six months and lays a large, dark brown egg almost every day, probably six a week. She still lays double-yokers about every other week. It has been really cold in southern Illinois but when our other girls slow down or stop laying. Lacy just keeps putting out. She is very friendly, curious, and one of the most beautiful hens I have ever seen. I just order eight more day old chicks to restock and two are gold lace wyandotte.

Our Wyandotte is the least friendly of a small flock of 5 different breeds. I can hold all of our birds - EXCEPT this one. She hates humans. I don’t have anything against this bird, it’s just that my other birds are so much better.

I love my Wyandottes not only for their laying but for their beauty. They are gentle and pretty dependable layers. They take a day off here and there but overall are dependable and sturdy survivors through the winter months.
