“I was tortured trying to decide on a rooster. I had a lovely Blue Orpington who passed away he was y sweet kind and beautiful. I truly thought he couldn't be surpassed. Well Eastwood is too pretty to be real, honestly. He is ginormous, gentle and the colors are breathtaking. He is almost a year old and his tail is just now getting long green swirling feathers that sweep the ground behind his golden laced body. He has a frill of pointed red gold feathers around his neck and a big flat comb. I did order a hen as well but she didn't live past 3 months and we were so sorry to loose our darling Rose. Eastwood is one beautiful hearty boy with a lovely deep rich voice. He is good to his ladies and he was the perfect choice. If you need a rooster do consider Golden Laced Wyandotte! I wish I had ordered a few golden girls!”
“Not sure how the females are, but ours turned out to be a male. He was ALWAYS the first to get the food, from the very start, he was huge, top of the hierarchy. He definitely got respect. But he was kind of aggressive about it. He kept everyone in line, but once we re-homed him, everyone seemed a lot more at ease. He had a bff that was a black australorp we ended up re-homing with him to cut down on stress to both birds. They had been inseparable from the start. None of my other chicks ended up with that sort of bond- he'd get very upset if she (or any of the other birds) started squawking. Not sure if he'd make a great rooster since he definitely pushed out all the girls for the food and treats, but he was becoming more aware of what was going on around them. If nothing else, he was certainly gorgeous. And was first to come over if he thought you had treats. He got the girls all interested in food since he'd eat pretty much anything. I'm unsure if I'd get another because he was more aggressive than my more docile girls, but I'm not sure if that's due to being a boy or due to the breed's personality. Either way, was pretty sad he turned out to be a boy, but I know sexing day-old chickens isn't 100%. I miss him and his boisterous personality.”
“We have two GL Wyandotte‚Äôs. Live in SD, did great in very cold winter temps. Socially good. Excellent egg layers year after year, 5 years and counting. Never broody. Beautiful birds!!”
“Our GLW Henniken is a beautiful bird. She was raised with a Black Laced Wyandotte and a super blue layer from MPC. She is the least friendly of the bunch even though she was treated exactly the same. We still love her, but we are dying to cuddle her and we can't! Oh well, we have a cuddly Easter Egger, BLW, Super blue and a snuggly polish. I guess we just chalk it up to personality. She lays peewee eggs, and we hope they will get larger as she gets older, but right now they look as small as a bantam's. I am not certain of the breed stock she comes from, but I can say she isn't aggressive and she does come running, you just can't touch or or move toward her without her running off like we are going to eat her right then.”
“Our golden laced Wyandotte just turned two and lays almost every day. She is the most friendly of our 12 - ordered two with my next batch because we love her so much.”
“Purchased as day old chicks and every one is thriving at 9wks. I have 10 hens and 2 roosters...my larger roo started crowing for the first time this morning.
Very calm and friendly birds and their beauty is unsurpassed.
Can't wait until they start laying...probably not until spring as they'll come of age in winter.”
“We chose to get one gold laced and one silver laced Wyandotte. They both arrived safely and chirping with the rest of the batch, and the gold laced is very cute with her gold stripes down her back. She‚Äôs the tiniest of the batch, but very lively and smart, I can‚Äôt wait to see her feather out and her rose comb to grow!”
“My peeps arrived as promised Dec 3, the Postal Agent wanted to see them lol! They have grown and thrived, I am hand raising them and they are learning to love scratches. Each has her own personality at one month old and I adore them- no eggs on the horizon and that‚Äôs fine, their beauty suffices! One seems to be half gold, half silver- last to feather in and most friendly so should be fun to see how she turns out”
