“I ordered Super Blues both in 2016 and 2017 and the birds I got in 2016 (Leghorn x Legbar?) were flighty but laid big, light blue eggs. This year's batch are just starting to lay pretty blue eggs, but the breed is nicer, calmer, and has cute puffy cheeks!”
“Summer is my SBEL I got in 2016... she has a tiny pea comb and is a sleek white bird with black feathers flecked here and there, with an upright tail... you can see the leghorn in her. She's an excellent forager, and is very trainable since she's highly food motivated. She's the piggiest of them all, actually... you better watch your fingers when you feed her. Best thing about her is her HUGE blue eggs that she lays almost daily. They are a deeper blue at the start of the season, and mellow out to a very pale blue when she lays for a while. Love the extra color in my egg basket!”
“We have 200 - 300 chickens at any given time. We sell eggs and our specialty is a multi-colored egg basket. We acquired Super Blues about 2 years ago. These birds have an excellent temperament and do very well in our environment. Good foragers, good over all health, and their eggs are a nice shade of blue. The birds we started with have a lighter shade of blue than the next generation. Interestingly, we put a Super Blue Rooster of Cuckoo Bluebar hens and those babies have the deepest shade of blue eggs. Our customers are thrilled with the lovely blue eggs and I am impressed with the generally large size of the eggs (55 to 70 grams). For sweet birds with unusual eggs, Super Blues are the bird you want to go with.”
