Applying product:
No fragrance at all. Truly odorless. Sprayer needed batteries, but worked well. I applied 2 thorough coats.
Effectiveness:
After 24 hours, I tested the effectiveness on our couch with water droplets. It did bead up, but if it wasn't soaked up immediately, the water started soaking into the couch. I am a little disappointed. I spent $200 and did a very careful and thorough double application, and while I am SO grateful for the lack of toxicity, and I do believe our couches are safer than before, I am not convinced they'll be okay when a dangerous spill actually occurs.”

Can I ask what material your couch is and how big it is? How man seater?
How much product did you use?
How many coats did you apply?
Did you treat the whole couch? (Back, sides, both sides of the backing cushions and both sides of the seated cushions?)
We usually recommend applying 100ml of protectME per m2 of fabric for most fabrics per coat. Please note that some fabrics will require a second coat — usually thicker/more absorbent fabrics such as rugs, or loose weave fabrics. This second coat can be applied within 30 mins from the first with another 100ml per M2.
Based on this ratio, our 750ml bottle will cover about 7.5m2 of fabric and our 5 litre container will cover 50m2 of fabric.
In regards to your couch, you need to think about how much you are wanting to treat. For example, are you wanting to treat the back, sides, both sides of the seated cushion and both sides of the backing cushion?
Just for reference, If you were to treat a standard 3 seater couch and you were to treat the whole couch, we would normally recommend a 2L big job pack with the battery sprayer for one coat.
The coating should last 2-3 years depending on traffic.

Did the protectME cause the stains or did the couch stain after you had used protectME?
Have you tried to clean the stain with anything?
We recommend applying 3.3fl oz of fabric protector for 10ft2 of surface. It doesn't need to be exact as long as the material is saturated.
Some fabrics like carpets are needing a second coat with an additional 3.3fl oz per 10ft2, 30 mins after the first coat is applied.
Just for reference, if you were to treat a standard 3 seater sofa and you were to treat the whole sofa, we would normally recommend to apply the Medium size refill bottle for one coat.
After protectME has been applied, you can wash the fabric up to 30 washes before you will need to reapply the coating and you can steam clean the fabric as it can withstand temperatures of up to 250 degrees celsius.
You can also use any off the shelf spot treatments to clean any marks as long as the pH is between 2-13 which most spot treatments are. Using protectME will make cleaning marks but easier.
