Tested radios recently while in two running rigs and were breaking up and static filled at no more than 1000 feet apart. Appears antennas dont unscrew so you cant install rooftop antenna to help their poor performance. Id hoped theyd be good for atleast a few miles. CB works better than that. Both the provided and online manuals are very basic and dont offer much operational help.

Hello Greg, The Gmr2 performance very much depends on the terrain you are traveling in. Out in the open desert you will get a much longer range, however in mountainous or suburban conditions with obstructions in the way, the performance is limited to its output. If you find yourself needing more power, we highly recommend our GMR45 mobile radio. It's a POWERHOUSE and is perfect for group rides. You can then lend the handhelds to members in the center of the group so that everyone stays connected!

I recently bought a few GMRS Rugged Radios from you guys They work great. Since not everyone on the trail has a HAM radio (or any sort of coms at all). By sharing them, more folks can communicate with the leader. On top of that, I was a winner in the Friday giveaway, and just received another GMRS radio, Free! One more to share. Thanks Rugged Radios!

Radios are good, but both chargers stopped working after a couple charges. Also, batteries lasted less than 8 hours

Work better than anything we can find for the price point. Would recommend this company to anyone looking for a great way to communicate between work pairs

The best range we've reached was about 3 miles flat ground. Mountains was about 1.5 miles. This was great for us since we're never that far apart out there.
