How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? Seeing how the resources and treasures related to the different story characters gave the students something tangible to relate to all sides of the story.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? History has been a poor looser to other curriculum areas - but it is fundamental to every aspect of our modern lives. I am keen to continue with the story of New Zealand... and to try and share more of our history through the use of multiple perspectives.
This was a great way to bring history into our classroom! All the hands on and visual learning drew the students into the story. It would have been nice to somehow bring a bit of suspense and surprise into the story.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? I'm not an expert by any means on NZ history so it has helped to increase my knowledge and interest levels. As I work alongside the kids, it has stirred questions up that we all were keen to find answers too. It really worked well as part of our inquiry.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? I would love my kids to be able to explore this part of New Zealand. Despite not physically being able to go there, this has given them a good insight. Kits like this provide awesome ways to explore NZ history in a child friendly way. I'm looking forward
During the year, some of my class have found it really tricky (in reality) to see things from other people's perspectives. It is also something that we work really hard on as a school. This kit was great for stepping into someone else's shoes.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? I loved the context you provided for a unit of work that was about perspective. We used visual images such as the duck and rabbit illusion as an opener to show how people see things in different ways. The situation you presented was great in that the idea
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? A small example of changing misconceptions was when I asked they class why people came to settle in New Zealand from Europe, one very common thought was that it was to ";take over";. When we looked at what life was like in England and Scotland and why peo

It is great to get resources ready to use and teachign notes to support the teaching and learning. It was easy intergrated into our inquiry and added value to our learning. It is about time that schools in NZ start to teach New Zealand history alot of my students had never heard about thecolonisation of Aotearoa . How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? It was good, modelling how to engage in such conversations was needed in order to achieve successful and safe learning conversations. This made my students well aware of different perspectives and different stories and how they were interpreted and passed
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? It has not changed my perspective but has addressed and brought to the attention of others the importance of New Zealand history and getting stories correct. Some learning was able to be linked back to the Treaty of Waitangi, which was fantastic.
Thank you very much for this School Kit, a lot of good learning and discussions around New Zealand history. The 'As I Saw It' game provided students with a visual of significant people who were of that time and their names. The naming cards provided great information for students to learn about and who was who. Students came into this learning not knowing much at all which was great. After much discussion and watching the voyage taking place students gained insight about the conditions of which the settlers went through when traveling to New Zealand. Students also learnt the importance of embracing others for who they are and what they bring to discussions. This was a fantastic Kit and I know I would use this again as New Zealand history will be taught in schools around New Zealand. So thank you very much for Kit.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? The multi version of events encouraged our learners to see things from different points of view, feelings were ignited (while implementing facts), which enabled our learners to retain information and relate to personal experiences.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? I have always been an advocate of teaching our own NZ history. However it can be quite a touchy subject, especially when one has their own set of beliefs, assumptions and experiences. This kit definitely helped with the delivery of this touchy subjects.
Once again school kit have delivered an interactive, hands on, valuable learning experiences for our tamariki. It was great to be able to teach, share and learn such an important aspect our our ";own history"; for a change. I found what really hooked the kids in was the storyline, and the connections made between the characters involved. As the day unfolded you could see their eyes light up when they realised or noticed how the characters intertwined and the roles they played, leading up to the events that took place.
