What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? It is a kit that has been added to our classroom for future reference. The kit that keeps on giving.

“The children loved exploring and working together to create the kit. Some of the objects were a bit tricky to make for my 5-year-olds so we had to get some of the senior students to help us. It was a great opportunity to build relationships with our peers.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? I found the creation of the farm was best suited for my learners. Some of the activities that came with it were tricky for my young children.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Understanding of where kai comes from. Lots of rich te reo.

“The tamariki loved building the farm. It was a great collaborative process where everyone played a role in the creation of the finished product. Our farm lives in the classroom now and is regularly visited by the children. Tied in well to our healthy bodies unit.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Physically being able to manipulate the bricks pieces and creations meant there was a heap of oral language we could build on and explore. I also found the suggested activity of being able to create our own farm invention using the thing, that, for cards

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? It supported us to become confident and fluent in using te reo maori for fruit and vegetable names.

“This school kit was an absolute hit from the get go. I decided to focus on team building and developing skills for working together by placing learners into small teams and having them work together to build the foundation of the bricks farm. This worked really well as they had to communicate effectively with each other to successfully build the farm. We then had a day of activities based on the suggestions provided - which were so useful. This was a huge success and the various degrees of scaffolding meant that every learner experienced success during this literacy learning. This is something that I can see doing every year in class.”
