Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them I loved the farm - I got to build the pieces again. I have the farm at home but the games we are playing are fun. I like putting the farm pieces on our farm. I get to think about where they might grow or survive best.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? the picture tokens and the die - it engaged the students and made them think more deeply about things on the farm.

“The students were highly engaged. They worked in teams to put the farm pieces together - so there was lots of collaboration and communication required. For some it was a learning curve to share their skills, for some it was a challenge to get involved. The students loved guessing what might have been in each of the packages. The favourite activity was inventing. There were some amazing pictures and descriptions of their inventions for their farm.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them Student 1: I liked that you can play with the 4 wheeler and truck and become a farmer! ( 6 years old) Student 2: I liked the being able to put the eggs in the basket and having a countdown shed!

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? To be responsible for the parts. And it created lots of imaginary play.

“Room 7 at New River LOVED this hands on resource. We struggled making up the tractors so used some tuakana/teina from a senior class to help. Even this term it is still a firm favourite and is used lots in oral language. Thank you so much for this opportunity.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The fruit and vegetables.....it visually showed the tamariki that food does not just come from a supermarket....it is growen, harvest and different processes are involved to get it to the supermarket.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Where food comes from.....how to grow vegetables and fruit......

“What a fabulous opportunity to provide for our tamariki. My Year 0/1 class absolutely enjoyed learning about a farm, the animals, people, buildings, growing fruit and vegetables. The tamariki were able to construct their own version of a farm. It creative a lot of discussion (oral language, writing, art and play base learning) I fully recommend the bricks farm for all early years. Well done!”

There was only limited literacy explored through the topic of farming, as this was quite a foreign concept for my class to take on (ie. we are suburban Auckland, low socio economic area. Closest farm that we could visit costs as much as the Zoo to visit).

What a great opportunity to have a complete set of bricks for the classroom space - the bonus is that it tied in with topics we do cover in the school year, such as healthy eating, sustainability, the local environment, flora and fauna and our relationship to these, farming etc.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them "I loved using the blocks to create a farm and can remember the Māori words when we're playing the game." "I liked the game, I liked the way there was a road and you could play with the animals".

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? For us it was how to incorporate Māori words into sentence form. This was a challenge for the children and they really enjoyed the new learning. We hope that this can still be used within other elements of the class.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? The use of te reo Māori and how to use it in a sentence.
