Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Most of the kit was challenging for the younger tamariki to do, but with the help of older students it worked well.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? That the younger tamariki got to work with the older students so they collaborated and participated together

How did the context of farming allow your learners to explore and develop literacy? There was a lot of discussion and it was great because our community are a farming community. The oral language discussions were great as we reflected on the animals etc, most of the tamariki could relate to this kit.

“How great it was to get the Bricks Farm 23. Being a Year 1 & 2 class we made very good use of these as an activity we did with older students. They enjoyed working to put these together as well. The Brick Farm 23 is on display for all our tamariki to continue putting together and they like to play with these. Thank you for putting this together for schools, it has so much potential and being a rural community, it met our needs very well.”

“I absolutely loved interacting with the Bricks Farm as did my Year 1 class. We got into groups and followed instructions to create each of the boxes and then the envelope packs were given out as a reward when children were caught displaying a "school value". The weeks after that were spent building their own farm and writing about its features and characteristics. This was done in pairs.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Learning language, because it gave student confidence to be able to say what they are doing and did without being judged and interrupted. They had opportunities to voice their own thoughts and ideas.

“These were so amazing. All students were engaged and they loved every bit of building with the bricks. Some students created what was on the box while others tried and ended up creating something a little different. This kit promoted patience, creativity, and collaboration. The students ended up making a whole village of different brick scenes which they interact with every day. I think they could do this 4 times a year and still love this resource. The understanding they developed in connecting the pieces together and being able to see the finished product empowered them so much.”

“My class has loved every moment of these lego bricks. From the moment they arrived, helping to put them together to create the wonderful set ups and trucks etc. To the monent were they get to create their own farm. The children are always asking to use these Lego bricks during class time and also during wet play times. They are such a big hit. The children have learnt more about the farm animals, the farm workers, the farm vehicles and they have learnt about taking care of our environment. So many learning opportunities have come from this wonderful set. Thank you!”

“The Bricks Farm was a great resource for my class. I was able to integrate it into Writing, Maths and Inquiry as well as Discovery time. The children enjoyed being creative and using their grit to make up sets. It is a resource that has become very popular in the classroom and I look forward to finding other ways to use it this term.
