Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Having year 3 children it was great to have the thing, that + for cards. It helped them to expand their knowledge and use what they had learnt in real life problems.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? It's become part of our classroom routine. A activity that we can grab out at literacy time.

“An awesome kit! The class loved building everything and opening each little bag. I bought all my pieces in for them as well! So we ended up with a fantastic supply. They loved the activities. Especially the sorting. We linked our learning to our school garden.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them When I use lego normally, I just build with it. We learnt to group and sort the food which was cool. I liked looking at all the different food and working with my friends to build things.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? All of it. There weren't any particular stand outs, as each activity was fun and students were very engaged.

“My students loved using this kit. They were all fully engaged each time we time we completed a lesson and it gave me the opportunity to observe lots of oral language, sharing, co-operation and the different roles that students naturally gravitated towards. The site gave me some great ideas on how to use the kit in so many different ways.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? I loved having the Maori vocab to go with the key words. We are trying to be more culturally responsive within our school, and having the Te Reo helped me into this into the clasroom.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Intergration of the Maori vocab.

“The students loved the Bricks Farm Kit especially the boys in the classroom. Making the puzzle and making the farm was tricky at first but with support it got completed. There was a lot of conversation during construction and play. Completing the tasks was time consuming and they just wanted to make the farm.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? My learners love lego! Lego is a very engaging activity for students. This equipment continues to be used during our learning through play programme.

“The children in my class loved the Countdown farm bricks kit. They enjoyed working together to open the packets and together we constructed Spreydon's Farm. The bigger boxes of farm equipment were made by small groups of students. The children learned about the names of fruit and veges in English and Te Reo. I really liked the bilingual areas of this kit.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The puzzle base pieces - because they 'set the scene'. The bricks themselves - because the children loved the imaginative play.

“We love the Bricks Farm pieces and still use it weekly. We tend to use the Bricks as a free-play cooperative activity. My groups are ESOL groups so the Bricks have been particularly useful to engage children in conversation about everyday topics such as shopping, food and then adding some more specialised vocab about farming. We tried to use the instructions that came with the kit but found the 'game' a bit hard to understand how to play. The students are so excited when the kit is brought out.”

“My Year 1 class absolutely loved the Bricks Farm kit. The hardest part for them was understanding that they needed to follow the building instructions in order for the truck or building to look correct. It made them really take it slowly and build it properly. We kept the bricks out in our tuff tray for the whole term.”
