Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them Students in Kapowai are able to refer to some of the machinery by their correct names ie. combine harvester, milk tanker, and know what they are use for.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? We were very impressed with the detail of the machinery which lead to discussions around how farmers care for the land and produce food. Great new vocabulary for the juniors students.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Everyone wants to use this resource doing STEM time. There is always an expectation that they will show and tell what they have created which seems to excite them even more.

How did the context of farming allow your learners to explore and develop literacy? We use it all the time for literacy activities, whether it is telling a story by creating a scene or making a stop motion movie or writing about the sheep in the paddock and how the farmer will shepherd them into the pen using his dogs.

“This is a fantastic resource that is versatile and handy. Our class (Kapowai) was using it for instructional language and writing. We had been doing an inquiry about the Ātua Rongomātāne ātua of peace and cultivated crops. The Bricks farm was perfect for us to set the scene and come up with some great discussions. The pictures show the children constructing the equipment and machinery. Very generous resource.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? the car/truck kits with the instructions were fantastic. They allowed us to follow the instructions. I really enjoyed exploring the directional cards too.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? They have a resource that they are always keen to use. The children who were supported to use are now the experts and are able to be successful in lead others with it.

“I used these bricks with a group of children to support social emotional development. They worked with a TA to create the items. They had to take turns and share. There was a lot of having to be patient and listening to others ideas. The kit was then used for language extension with a target group. These kids were then the experts when the kit was introduced to everyone else in the class.”
