What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? All children have a renewed sense of pride in themselves and their cultures in a positive and supportive way.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? The many different languages that are now seen around my walls are a hit with children and adults alike. The supportive and inclusive nature of my students has also been a welcome change as they were somewhat divided beforehand.
This was an amazing kit for my class, particularly for the children who are of Pasifika descent and children from other parts of the world. They felt important as experts in the classroom and valued as individuals.

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? This kit will be useful when setting up my classroom for next year as I can use these concepts from the start.
I have used the activities more for myself and haven't had a chance to use it with my class. It has made me think about how I recognise my students and reflect on how my class is set up.

A well crafted and thought provoking kit which allowed children to step out of their bubble and place themselves in other peoples shoes. Great tasks which provided empathy and understanding!

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Little as my gfroups changed to frequently in ESOL.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Again, little as I only see each group 30 minutes a day , 4 day per week.
Unfortunately I was not able to use this as well as I had hoped. I am an ESOL teacher and I thought it might be an opportunity for our large number of ESOL students to develop a better understanding of racism so they were more able to articulate what was happening in their world (the good and the bad). As I said unfortunately I was unable to focus my efforts as my groups changed to frequently to really develop an indepth understanding. What did please me though was their feedback saying that at school there were minimal racist incidents, and if there were, they were quickly sorted out(primary school). I can definitelt see the benfit of the kit, especially in a mainstream classroomk.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The action plan model helped us to develop some cross-curricular lessons (Religious Studies and Social Studies).
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Students were challenged and many of them understood the need to change their language and attitudes towards one another. It was a fantastic way to build community within the classroom.
This was a fantastic unit that helped to reinforce many of the concepts covered in both Religious Studies and Social Studies Year 7 classes. Many students were challenged and we were able to have some valuable conversations during and after using the kit.

I am a teacher in a year 7 class and we usually really get into the School Kits, but this one they really struggled to understand and get involved with. It was an awkward topic for many kids to share about so it was unfortunately not very successful for us and we left out many activities due to this.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? It has allowed students to feel more comfortable with who they are and know that it is okay to be different and that this needs celebrating!
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? We used it for drama and role playing.
This kit was great for challenging stereotypes and generating a lot of good robust discussion in the classroom. It allowed students to feel safe and have examples as a base to start.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Helped to remember to be kind and that some times we forget that people need or want to hear it. Having kind things said and accepting where people sit in our lives was a great reminder that could be used more, particularly as the year progresses.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It created a more open and positive environment where they were able to share kindness and hear it. It made realisations that people liked them more than they thought. Sense of appreciation was made.
This pack was full of really amazing lessons and resources. Unfortunately, this pack was not a hit with my class. Many factors have attributed to this. The demographic that makes up our school and the area that we live in made it a little hard to relate to. Although this type of thing has been in the news, it does not hit close to home enough for it to be a real impact like I had hoped. It is a touchy subject and it was hard for me to use the whole pack to its fullest potential. We did do a couple of activities. My students loved looking through influential people in their lives. We had in-depth conversations in why and how people are placed in our lives and the roles that they play in them. We also wrote really kind things to each other using the template. I altered this a bit with how we approached it, but it was nice to see the kind things that they thought about each other.
