This was a thought-provoking kit for me and my students. We are in a very multicultural school, and many of my students, having been at this school their entire educations, had experienced little racism. The concept that this wasn't the case for everyone was sobering.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? I am not sure hat you mean by action plan. I teach at a decile 2, small city school with 50-60% Maori and Pasifika community. We needed to discuss racism in a context relevant for them and find ways to empower them.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It didn't have as much impact on my class as I thought it would but it was a very good starting point. I felt like there was something missing or something that I was not doing right with this kit. But that could be more about my teaching than the kit! I do love the idea of students discussing and learning about this topic.

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? becoming more honest and challenging opinions especially our parents opinions that are passed down to us and what we see from the media influence that are shown in may forms and way and social media
This is a great kit that I think would be useful at the beginning of the year when you are setting up your class, to talk about class culture, treaty etc

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Students were more tolerant of each other.
Really made the kids think about the way they treated others and the way they saw themselves.

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? More acceptance and more conversations
I found this kit very useful especially after the attacks in chch. I have a very diverse range of cultures and learners in my classroom and it was helpful to delve deeper and create a better understanding for these tamariki.

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? We have only used a few resources and it has helped them develop more awareness around other cultures.
Thanks, some great resources but it would be much more helpful with a proper lesson sequence and plans. It’s all a bit for vague for me, I need it to be more detailed and clearer to follow.

The layout of the SMART goals allowed students to break down their goals to a level that they were able to clearly understand. Students created and shared their SMART goa

In term 4, our Whanau's fertile question was 'How can I use my power?'. The challenging racism kit fit in very nicely with this question, as it allowed students to explore their culture, heritage and identities in order to identify how they could use ";their power"; to make positive changes to the school. The students thoroughly enjoyed the activities in the kit.
