What a fantastic kit! So many exciting and engaging activities for students to take part in. My class is really big on presenting their work artistically, which fitted in well with what School Kit provided. It is fair to say my room is covered in their free resources. Thank you School Kit :)

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? I did really use the action plan closely.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It raised a lot more discussion and awareness of the different inequalities that we face within our society. Students have become a lot more vocal and discussing the simple battles of right vs wrong. If it is wrong and people know its wrong, why do they k
Talofa lava School Kit, Thank you again for producing another successful thought-provoking kit. These kits continue to prove to be such a strong tool for collaboration and discussion for our students. This kit along with Tuia 250 really opened the flood gates of discussion around racism and inequality. It took a while for our students to really gain a real grasp and understanding of concepts like discrimination but with further digging and research students learned about the Dawn Raids, Apartheid, Chinese Poll Tax, and Women's inequality.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The boys were so much more aware that what they jokingly said to each other was infact not a joke and contributed to what we now call overt racism. The action plan held them all accountable and I copied and laminated their own smart goals and taped these
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? I overheard lots of discussions I don't think I would have previously heard about racism. The boys sometimes were quick to challenge someone if they gave a standard racist comment like you are just a dumb Tongan. Also for myself as a result of the what I
With what had happened in Christchurch in March and the impact it had on my class (I have Mulsim refugees (2) in my class and one boy in particular was crying in class the next day) (refugee from Syria and seen lots of bad stuff!) I was very keen to register for this kit as it also impacted the other boys as they couldn't really understand why someone would attack others culture. I think racism is a discussion we need to be having with our children as it seems to be quite prevalent in our society at the moment. The activities absolutely lead to awesome discussions and activities and it became clear as we worked through the kit that we all to a degree have some sort of racist attitudes towards others be it in jobs, education, religion or general day to day life. The kit made us all acknowledge this as a truth and then gave good opportunities for us to rectify these and challenge us all in our own attitudes (teacher included!) Great discussions and questioning happened.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The impact in our classroom was that it started the students thinking, asking questions, and talking about stereotypes and racism.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? This kit helped us to connect as a community, especially the compliments section. The students thought deeply about each other, finding kind things to say that reflected personality rather than looks.
This was a good kit that helped explore diversity and open up discussions within our classroom.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Although my classroom is multicultural the action plan has proved to be a useful tool in maintaining our racism-free environment.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Due to introducing new ideas to my students this kit has helped to make them more aware of racism, and its many forms. Conversations around the topic of racism are now common.
An excellent, well-resourced kit, with a variety of engaging lesson ideas.

Children were engaged and enjoyed this school kit. All activities were appropriate and got the students critically thinking. My Year 5/6 class are now more open minded about stereotypes and why we shouldn't stereotype.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Students are feeling valued - one student even started wearing her hijab (which she hadn't previously worn at school due to being embarrassed - I did not this and it was great to see her confidence grow and everyone accept her).
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? The classroom became more inclusive on a deeper level rather than just at a surface level.
This kit made children stop and think about similarities and differences and that either are ok. They liked working through the kit
