What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We didn't get to finish this kit, due to the ability levels of my students.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? We have been showing more kindness towards each other and embracing the fact that we are the same but all unique.
Another great kit, this was a little beyond some of my students abilities. But they enjoyed who's in our circle and identifying stereotypes.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? students were not just passive receivers of ideas and information but active builders of their own perspectives and change agents.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? we think about the effect we have on others and we feel more comfortable sharing and celebrating our authentic selves.
We used the kit as part of our lead into our Cultural Diversity Day. Students and teachers used the tools to dig deeper into their own assumptions and develop connections and empathy toward one another. We will be incorporating aspects of the kit into our planning next year to build on our learning.

We have been on a cool journey through the Not Part of our World kit. It has led us to think about how we are can see ourselves in our school library, our class and community. We have issued books to our class that have our languages in and are working to help the library know what languages we would like to see. Another thing the students have been doing is asking people to check we are saying their names correctly. Some students have noticed racist words in the books they have read and have recognised how that feels. Thank you so much School Kit!

During the unit Not Part of My World the Focus moved from reflecting on ourselves and our own behaviours and attitudes to people in history who have challenged the status quo and fought for change. Students loved learning how activists changed history through peaceful powerful processes. Another focus was learning the difference between behaving through ignorance versus behaving with arrogance.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? This has had a great impact for not only the students but myself. We began to realise how often we would hear things when out and about in town.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Students have started to stand up for others instead of being by standers. We produced some awesome work from this kit but am unable to upload the photos
We have a very diverse class make up. This kit really got the kids reflecting on themselves and even small comments we unconciously make. It has encouraged our kids to begin to speak up more as opposed to it not being any of their business. It also started a cultural celebration and a real engagement in learning and facsination.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? My students were a bit too young for the action plan to be done formally but we did make class goals.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It made students more aware of the different cultures in our room and helped them see the power of being kind.
It was a really great kit which allowed students to engage with different ideas and learn about how sterotypes can affect people.

Aimed at tamariki slightly older than ours but a great way to introduce the topic. Thank you!
