How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? As a predominantly Maori school I presumed that we would not achieve as much as others with other nationalities of kids. However, I was proved wrong it gave me a good insight into how Maori kids have their own thinking around racism and gave me the opport

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? My learners were able to put themselves and their peers at the centre of the their learning. Making valuable and conscious efforts to be kind, understand and express themselves in ways they did not know how before.

The environment has always been positive in the classroom and it has continued to be that way, however I have noticed that they are a lot better at noticing when other people make stereotypical or racist comments and instead of letting it go they make peo

“Our class enjoyed using this school kit. A lot of them had experienced racism and stereotyping first hand but had never questioned it or thought that it was wrong/ unkind. This kit made us all look closely at ourselves and they way we think and talk to others. It was great to see the kids holding each other accountable for their words/ actions/ thoughts towards other ethnicities.”

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Already a positive environment. Helped develop empathy for students who are a minority and painted a picture of how society sometimes views them.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Students are talking better to each other and also about other cultures around the world. They have a better understanding of racism and different forms of this.

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Students stood up for each other and looked out for their peers.
