How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? We understand that everyone is different and come from different places, and we shouldn't be mean to people because of where they come from.
I found that even though some of my children understood what racism was, a lot of them were too young to understand what we were talking about. We were Year 3

It was a great kit as it got the children to think about what and who was important to them. We talked a lot about our relationships with people and how important it is to speak positively internally and to other people.

Very positive and happy classroom with a number of new and fascinating relationships created. What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The whole class is more aware of the strengths and challenges of migration. They were able to identify actions they could take to make positive change. They continue to refer to these in the classroom and in their conversations.

I found this kit extremely appropriate for the mindset of my y3-5 class. It tied in perfectly with our learning about our own resiliency and our study of migration. We have several students whose families have recently migrated to NZ as well as students whose families have lived in the community for over 100 years. The kit made it easy to initiate activities that led to rich discussions between students and across the class, school and community. Parents came to me to speak about the learning and the discussions it had started in their homes.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? It's made me and my class more mindful or what racism is.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It created discussion. It also supported my puberty unit on 'who I am'. We were looking into gender and the stereotypes that society tell us about. The idea that we are all different and should be celebrated was well received by my class of year 8 student
I have taught sections of the unit with my puberty unit in term 4. It has made me more mindful of how communities and individuals reinforce racism without even meaning too. My class really enjoyed the stereotype pictionary and we had some wonderful discussions after it. I apologise I didn't take any photos as I have two students in my room who do not want photos taken or displayed.

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? The students have stated that the classroom is more positive and feel that other students are taking care in choosing their words more carefully.
I have to say the kit was fantastic. The girls found it very engaging and relevant. The activities progressed nicely through the resource and built successively on each other. From the stereotype pictionary to the class compliments to realistic compliments we created in the end.

This was not really suitable for my class of Y5/6 students, and was not the same degree of usefulness as prior kits have been for me. I apologise for having not used it as I have with others previously
