How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Huge developments in the way they worked together - sharing ideas and accepting others opinions and views.
We ran this unit alongside our reading program looking at 'our uniqueness'. The children engaged well and really enjoyed the collaborative aspects. Some important discussions came from the unit and as a teacher I feel the sense of difference within our class was highlighted and more respected. Thank you

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Has linked in very well with our school values of respect and inclusiveness and encouraged students to a deeper level and more honest reflection on how they view and treat others around them.

It made it easier to create a safe environment to have honest and challenging conversations, where we encouraged each other to be mindful of how we talk about culture, race and ethnicity so we are better equipped to approach conversations from a more know
Such a wonderful, relevant and engaging kit. So powerful to address New Zealanders' biases, conscious and unconscious, and made very accessible for my Year 5 students.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? It has made the students more self aware of the way they treat others and themselves included. The action plan allowed my class to slowly look at the idea of racism, rather then it be a full blown topic straight off the bat and it become offensive or an a

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? A positive impact. It was amazing listening to the conversations the children would have with their parents as they came into the classroom before school. The children directed their whanau to the 'stereotype' wall, or the compliment poetry etc and could

A fantastic kit that enables teachers to open up important conversations around diversity - culture, religions, values and beliefs, and tackle the 'tricky' topics such as stereotypes and racism in a safe way. The children in my room have a deeper understanding / awareness and are applying their new knowledge to positively impact their everyday connections with others. Thank you!

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Students engaged in the action plan, but they had a very real idea of who they were as people, the connections to others and because of our school values did not stereotype people or have evident bias towards groups of people

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The activities that we covered definitely got my students thinking on a deeper level. It also got me thinking whether I am incorporating enough cultural activities within the classroom that are genuine rather than are just tokenism.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? I am not sure it has changed the environment in the classroom much as a lot of the underlying values of this kit were already established. What it has done is made me think about ways in which to make sure culture, in particular tikanga Maaori, can be wov
This was a well organised resource that has some great ideas for students to think about and work through or discuss. We had completed similar activities during the first two terms so with my class I was picking out different activities to follow on from some of the work we had already covered. The trust circles were fantastic and it lead to some interesting discussions with my Year 7/8 class about who was trusted and the levels of trust. Due to restraints at school I have been unable to complete many of the activities but I would like to incorporate it within our unit plans for term 1 next year.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We agreed on language that was to be used moving forward. A focus on name and place pronunciation has been a student driven major change when talking and interacting with each other.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? We were able to use the resources quite interactively. Making sure we revisited at the end of the term to see if we each would have changed anything on our targets as well as evaluating if we had achieved our goals.
This is my favourite kit so far! It sat alongside the Hauora inquiry and work on tolerance and resilience that we were also doing in our class. It sparked some changes in the way we talked to each other and the language we use. This kit was fabulous - we all loved it.
