“We have only just started this resource. Unfortunately Level 3/4 hot just as we were about to get started. We got some amazing letters from Whanau for the students in our class. We decided as a class that we would wait until we were back at school to keep going with the kit. Normally we would try and continue through distance learning however we think it will be a really good kit to do in person when school resumes. We can’t wait.”

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? We only just got started. The kids loved the opportunity to check in, in a new way and share honestly how they were feeling.

How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? Hugely! Another avenue for communication. I found I was catching that kid that would have ordinarily fallen under the radar.

How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? Give us another way wo make connections to their and family values, opportunity to connect on a different level.

“We found the kit had lots of supportive ideas. Particularly enjoyed the a letter from caregiver and check in discs - they were particularly helpful with identifying students who needed a chat. Booklets getting back to school was tricky. Students found the check on my charge part in the booklet difficult and we only completed two before lockdown. We have not reaslly used the recharge station or cards and we were hoping to reintroduce this after lockdown. We have been using some of the messges in our online learning. We think this kit will be something that will continue to give throughout the year.”

“We had only just started the booklet and our Year 7/8 students were really engaged! I was about to introduce the wall display when lockdown hit. The resources are amazing though — including all the video links! A well worthwhile project! We'll definitely be reintroducing and continuing with the unit when we get back to school.”

“I loved this resource. It was immaculately presented, thought through and was extremely creative and effective. The area of building self-confidence and resilience is an extremely important one and we found our new batch of year 7's were engaged and took on board many of the key messages. The day we shared a letter from a caring adult was one of the most powerful moments of my teaching career.”
