Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Charging station - Kids started using it more than I thought they would and I will be leaving it up.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? I hope this kit will leave a legacy of acceptance of both themselves and others around them.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them "I had no idea that's how other people saw me" after a class discussion after watching the short clip about the artist drawing without seeing the people. "I can now talk about my emotions and seek help"- from the charging stations and class discussions

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? I feel the begining setup was really important and did the setup step by step. It built a good foundation and also allowed great discussion about how we may see ourselves and then how others see us. Noticed a real confidence booster. The cards and charging station were also very useful for the kids to check in with their emotions.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? An increased sense of self worth and understanding of what they would change or see as flaws no one sees.

In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence By bridging the conversation about emotions and recognising it is okay to ask for help but there are also other strategies they can try first.

How has this kit helped develop student resilience? Students are more self aware and able to reflect on their feelings and beginning to be able to reflect on others. It is an ongoing process.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? Students seem more accepting of one another, building each other up and helping one another more

“This kit has been amazing for my class. I had noticed that many of my students were quite hard on themselves and struggled to think of positives. They had little to no resilience and this meant they were very hard on themselves and others. This kit was great in building their confidence, to recognise what made them unique and what others see in them even if they do not. They are more open to share their feelings and talk about their emotions which has been very useful in regulating themselves in all areas of the school.”

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? The way we feel can be changed by those around us. It is our job to support each other to be the best they can be.

How has this kit helped develop student resilience? The activities have helped the students recognise that we are always learning and resilience is required to get through challenging moments. We can all be resilient. It helps boost our confidence when we struggle to get through something and have success at the end.

“Thanks for the kit. I liked all the support material that went with the kit. My students used it to check in each day and this let me know how they were feeling and manage my connection with them throughout the day. I did find it hard to create a space large enough to mount the charging station. A kit like this would be great to start the year with. It helps you build relationships, support students to connect with their feelings and supports overall hauora.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them 1. I now have some strategies on how I can help myself. 2. It is important to talk about how we feel and ask for help. I like letting my peers know what zone I am in

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The voting system was great giving the chance for students to pass on how they felt. I also like the booklets that they could fill in about themselves. We are still exploring parts of the kit as we have had an incredibly busy term but we are working to include It in our daily life and zones of regulation work.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? The students are more confident to express how they feel and are able to articulate how this is affecting their learning.

“I really enjoyed this kit. As always School kits take you on an unexpected journey. The Dove kit created a platform with the charge station and check in box that provided a safe private way of sharing how individuals felt. I was able to quickly pick up on lows, and facilitate supporting the student back to a positive zone. This create a strong sense of trust between myself and some of the children. Thanks so much.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The check in tokens have been brilliant and are often used twice a day.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? All feelings are okay, it's what we do with them that matters.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them "I really liked looking at the portraits and it's true about how we think we are not beautiful. I liked hearing how others look at me." - Cara 11, "I don't like talking about things much but it was easy to use the Charging Station, especially on days when I came to school mad." - Ezekiel 10

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The letters from the parents had huge impact, the kids loved reading them and some of the parents said they think it's something that should be done regularly. The Charging Station was really popular and helped to intervene at times before things got too emotional.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Understanding themselves better and thinking about how they are perceived by others.

In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence Realising their strengths, especially things that they didn't think were a strength before this kit. Knowing how their parents are thinking about them. The shrink and boost cards gave them good strategies to use.

“We had lots of highly engaged tamariki, they really love exploring their own feelings and details about their lives. We used this in conjunction with our Sexuality inquiry (Changes at Puberty) and it covered a lot of the objectives from the health curriculum in an easily accessible way. The charging station was very popular and they loved the 'My Self' booklets.”
