What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the DIY World Records Kit? The students were very engaged and independant with creating their challenges. We had several ideas 'up our sleeves' but the students were able to come up with a wide variety of challenges. Our class were gutted that their videos were wiped over the holid
Our students LOVED this. We were really lucky that our whole team (3 classes of y7&;8) were able to participate in this. It wraps perfectly with our Maths and lead in to Science for term 2.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the DIY World Records Kit? Initially, they were a bit 'what???' when we first discussed it but once we started looking into world records and the weird and wonderful ways people can achieve them they got excited and into it. They loved the human benchmark games and also challenging
This was a fun and interesting unit that we did as a class towards the end of the term. I think the best thing about it was the learning going on and the kids did not really think of it as 'learning.' A couple of other classes came out to 'challenge' us and we believe they were a bit jealous as they did not do the unit lol.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the DIY World Records Kit? The kids loved the fact that they could get a bit crazy with their ideas and that really motivated them- especially when they got the chance to challenge other’s records. There was a lot of discussion and learning about how to keep record attempts fair an
My kids absolutely loved looking at existing records and then having the freedom to create their own crazy record really ramped up the excitement in the classroom. The kit provided a great platform to discuss fair testing and really defining the record parameters for others to challenge. Having the timers and measuring tapes made collecting and comparing the data much easier too. Overall it was such a great way to end our first term.
