Has this kit prompted any new food related initiatives within your school? no
The kids enjoyed looking at how to make soup and pickles and it was great to link to our inquiry of reducing waste. We had a look at what extra we could do to help and I know it made children think about what else they could do at home.

Has this kit prompted any new food related initiatives within your school? we planted our own vegetable garden.
Term 2 was a busy one for us, and we didn’t manage to complete all of the plans. However, we did the food map, 60-minute poem, dinner memory cards, and the food heroes activities. These were great resources to engage students, and we adapted some of them to suit our context.

Has this kit prompted any new food related initiatives within your school? Yes as we have now completed our gardens so each Hub can start their own Garden to Table programme when ready
Great resource with lessons plans easy to adapt or change. As an Enviroschools I was able to take it a bit further and look at food scraps and bring it in to sustainabilty across the school.

My students (year 7) were thoroughly engaged with this kit. They loved interviewing family and friends. We did not cover all the lessons in the kit but created content of our own to complement what was included.

What were the most creative food waste solution suggestions? Trying to connect green waste to people with animals that would consume it!

How did the activity help students make connections between circuit theory and real-world applications? Introducing our kids to circuit theory was the first step and seeing the connections that came from it.
Connecting our Kura and our local community was heaps of fun. Finding where the secret fruit trees and kai that kids knew about from their travels around the local environment. Identifying food waste examples and ways we could address these. Connecting some of our local food heroes in our community with kids to take action and create.

It helped them understand that things need to improve here as well as around the world and that people around the world have different challenges and ways of living , they also learnt that change needs to start with how we do things first before tackling the global issues.
What were the most creative food waste solution suggestions? Having a food swap or communal meals at school or at the local community centre

How did the activity help students make connections between circuit theory and real-world applications? it reinforced the place-based learning I often do with my students to make connections of the learning to the real world.
