How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? Haven't received anything from the other class yet but my kids are very excited to see what they have written. It is such a great idea as it gives their writing an authentic purpose.
The lessons were great, the added resources were awesome. The only thing we didn't like were the postcards. Some of my kids went away and wrote amazing poems, but because they didn't fit on the postcard we had to change them and they weren't as effective. The time was an issue for us too as we simply ran out of time to colour our postcards and decorate things, but this was more to do with how busy our term has been with other learning.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? Easy.
My kids were so animated and excited about the poetry kit. In fact the Principal could hear them from her office and had to come over to see what was happening!! Thanks so much - can't wait for the next one.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? Children were delighted to read what others had done with the poems. Getting post was very exciting - a novel experience for many!
Students loved the collaborative poetry writing process and we were inspired to do our own colour poems which were great. The poem in a box activity was good fun and wonderful for vocabulary building.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? We loved the process of sending and receiving, it gave the task more purpose and added to the intrinsic motivation with the children. We also enjoyed decorating our postcards and class poster knowing that another class somewhere in NZ woud be looking at t
the children in my class really loved it. We watched the videos, ran through the procedure and got alot out of it. They were motivated! So was I...we put our own bent of the poems and kind of painted an image, a little story to go with the object and thought our poems had more meaning that way...sorry to deviate from the path,

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? Made it real and having a post date to work towards gave us urgency to get finished and to a high standard because there was a ";real"; audience.
Excellent resources and planning for the set tasks. Like how it was a totally different set of activities to last year.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? As always there is a panic. No matter how planned you are there are always set backs. This year we had 4 activity days in the 2 weeks leading up to Post day. As always you just make it work. The children loved the poetry aspect and have fantastic colour p
I have enjoyed the whole experience. The kit was spot on this year and support through the facebook page excellent. Will definitely sign up for next year. (freebies for use in class were awesome)!
