Students LOVED the box of objects- lots we can use that for and what great progress they made in poetry writing - from bland to exciting and stimulating. LOVED the idea of putting words on paper and moving them around too. Huge value to the SWAP - it make

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? Kids were super excited when the kit arrived today, great to read through other poems and make the jigsaw poster. Helped the students feel connected to another school in our country.

“I have participated in Get NZ Writing for the past 3 years and LOVE it. This year kit was so great. I loved the colour poem idea. Loved the questions to generate the word bank eg If your item was a secret/holiday what would it be? Note.ly was such a hit with my kids. It was accessible for even my most reluctant Year 6 writers. Love learning about anagrams. The poster wasn't as cool as last years but the questions on it were cool the design was a bit plainer. Keep up the awesome work school kit and bit ups to your sponsers I love all the freebies. So exciting get the kit through in the post. We have just started on the world records too.”

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? The kids enjoyed receiving work from another class. Got discussions going about where in NZ they are from and what they wrote about the objects.

“Although I thought it was a fun idea I think the concept was too advanced for my Year 4’s. Perhaps ones aimed at different year levels might work better?”

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? It gives a purpose to the writing and a reason to get it done.

“I really enjoyed this kit. I liked that it focused on an aspect of writing that might not otherwise be covered. It was simple enough that I could tie it into other learning - eg sentence writing with the colour poems.”
