How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? Gives an authentic purpose for writing - a genuine audience to consider. Improved vocabulary because of this.
I loved the new poem format - both the colour and slam poetry. The video links were excellent. The students were beyond excited about the mystery items in the box and completely engaged in all learning activities around it. In hindsight I should have taken a later post date as we did have camp week which put us under the pump. But then sometimes it takes a bit of pressure to form diamonds!!! Loved it and grateful for such a fabulous resource.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? That was great - we had to move out of our block due to major renovations being done and we managed to pack our class poems! I was able to email it to our buddy class teacher so they didn't miss out. We loved their work and their cards.
This kit was really motivating - the children loved the tin and the objects. The writing tasks had a great graduation towards the poem writing. We all really enjoyed creating the class poem and the language that the children used showed good development - it was great to see them using some of the language in their individual poems. I have received my buddy class' pack and I was impressed with the effort they put in too - they added photos and glued them onto the large poster so we could see what their words / sentences etc referred to - this added meaning to their poster and informed us about them, their choices and their thoughts. I'm really grateful for the cards they included in their pack expressing their sympathy for us (we are in Chch). That was a lovely thing to do.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? Exciting to see what the other class says on their cards! Maybe we can get new friends doing this. We had to do good poems because they are going to read them and enjoy them
Quotes from the kids! Making the poems. Feel and describe the cool things in the tin. The cool treasures in the tin. The postcards - fun to make them. Can't wait to get some back. Puzzle was cool when we did it. I loved all the little treasures and making up the stories about them. We even still use sticky words

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? I think the swapping with another class is really important. It gives us connections and means we need t be more accountable. The children love the fact that our work is going to another class and we are receiving their work!
Room 5 and I loved this kit. It was super engaging, practical and well resourced. I also really appreciate all the posts and ideas/support posted by other teachers on the School Kit Facebook page. It's invaluable.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? My class are really looking forward to our package arriving. They are very excited to see the puzzle that the postcards make on the backside. It will be nice for them to be able to see the different ideas that other children thought of.
My students and I absolutely loved completing this School Kit in class. The children were so motivated and engaged throughout and were so eager to find sticky vocabulary that they wanted to use in their poems. Thank you for the fantastic resource!
