How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? Great to have a real ‘purpose’ to the activity.
Loved the tin of items. I am continuing to use it to work on descriptive sentences with the children. Definitely provided good motivation and discussion within the class.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? It is exciting for students to make connections and gives an authenticity to their writing. Encouraged students to be accountable and aim high. Creates suspense, students can’t wait to receive the package.
Amazing resource. It introduces new learning in ways teachers might not think of, and gives us the resources to support the learning. The activities engage students, the teachers manual support the teacher. My third year and I have loved it every year..

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? We were disappointed as they didn’t follow the teacher instructions (which were very long) and they didn’t produce the correct writing style
I love the idea behind school kit but I felt this was very heavily teacher led rather than students being able to go and be super creative.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? The class was excited to received the information back from our buddy class and we immediately looked up on Google maps their favourite place and water and their school, so we could get more of a sense where they were from. We also read out a postcard eac
The class were amazed how easy it was to create a poem with the colour lines and inspired them to try more. The tin of objects was great for finding out about adjectives and that dictionaries had 'adj' beside a word if it was an adjective. Same for the 'sticky' verbs, they were then able to look up verbs on devices and in dictionaries and look for the 'v'. They then found out the value of a thesaurus to improve their adjectives. We created charts with adjectives for each object so those who have more of a struggle with words could easily find 18 adjectives for their postcards. It was also good to have a bit of pressure to finish before the courier arrived, finding out about deadlines and the great sense of achievement when the poster and postcards went into the envelope.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? We have not received ours yet, however, our class liked the idea of sending work to another class (we had recently done some work in reading about penpals) and they are hoping they will reply back again too.
This specific activity was quite a bit more challenging for younger students than last years, however, the concept is a very good one and I would definitely recommend it to others.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? It's always a fun experience to recieve mail from another school. They compared theirs to the revived postcards and talked about how cool their words were and who used the same words. We didnt get a class poster from our sending school, so we didnt get to

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? Gave it real purpose for our tamariki - loved getting the swap parcel - loads of excitement!
What a fantastic challenge. The children loved it and they are full of excitement to open our parcel tomorrow from our buddy school. The resources were appropriate to the level and we were able to have poems from all students across a variety of levels and they all experienced success. Brilliant job school kit!!!
