How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? The swapping is what makes my kids want to participate! Unfortunately, we did not receive all our postcards from our buddy class, so our postcard poster has a big hole in the middle.
The concept was difficult for the majority of my Year 5/6 class, and the videos given to use were aimed at high school level. The activities did not capture my students' interest like the 2018 kit did.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? Swapping with another class provided the motivation to complete what was rather a challenging task for my Y3 - 4 class. Our pack arrived today and the class was so excited. We looked up the other school on a map and googled the school and the city (Actual
How do I send you photos? Getting the kit was just as exciting for me as for the kids. I did tweak the formatting of the poems a little - did not want writing that sounded 'affected' through overuse of adjectives. This coincided with our schools ongoing professional development in writing and the PD provider was not particularly impressed with the kit, feeling it focussed too much upon adjectives so that the writing sounded pretentious. I pressed on regardless but with adaptations so my students would focus more on specific nouns, strong verbs, and details. Thank you School Kit : ) Suggestion: make adaptations for younger writers (mine were Y3 - 4 and some are struggling writers).

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? It is the key, because it gives the students an authentic purpose and audience for their writing.
My students loved the writing kit. They were excited to write and really enjoyed creating their poems.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? In swapping mail with another class, here, we have an instant audience and the children certainly want to impress. They are looking forward in receiving their postcards in the mail where they'll learn more about other children's ideas and their region.
The whole package was fantastic. The writing prompt objects and explicit planning were not only time savers but motivational for all. Great way to get children writing.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? When we opened our package the oohs and aahs that students have is so exciting. It is a rare occasion when we are actually writing for a real audience like this. It makes the purpose of writing so much more effective for reluctant writers and students tha
We are so fortunate to have been apart of the 2019 GNZW group! My class have been bouncing into class everyday telling me new sticky words they have thought about overnight, and how they can use them in their writing! The wonderful gifts that were sent with the writing resources have been used to send our pack to our buddy school. We are forever grateful for the opportunities these kits provide for our children! Many thanks, Andy Yates - Westburn School
