What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? This kit provided opportunities for learning around healthy eating, learning about the environment, how things grow, different habitats.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This kit helped the children to learn about new vegetables. They all wanted to go home and learn about new kits.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We have incorporated measurement into this unit and looked at measuring their growth. Then we measured out 25cm squares in our garden at school and planted the little gardens in them. We looked into the life cycle of a plant too and what things they need

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We now have a vege and herb garden at school so we will continue to nurture them and grow them. There are some expert parents who have been in to help us plant and are continuing to help us grow them in our vege garden so hopefully we can harvest some by

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students have definitely learnt about a lot more vegetables and ways they can be cooked to include more vegetables in their diet. They all tried the vegetables we taste tested, and for some they hadn't tried them before.

“Room 3 have loved growing and nurturing their seddlings. We have looked at different types of vegetables, we surveyed the class to see what our favourite vegetable was as a class, we have integrated maths and measurement into this unit and we have cooked a variety of vegetables to taste test. We have also planted our little gardens into a school vege patch and had the deputy principal help and some of the wider school community. It's been a great experience for our class and school! I can't wait to harvest and eat them!”

We have been able to integrate it across the curriculum including making a simple team production that we are going to share with parents at the end of Term 4. It has lent itself well to the maths and literacy. We are also doing some artwork too - endle

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? In the future they children could continue on from what they have discovered this year. There are so many things that you could do and a term isn't long enough to do them all.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We are yet to do that part but I believe from what we are doing they will all be keen to try out some vegies - particularly if we manage to get our seedlings to grow well.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Great range of school journals available for this topic. There was also a lot of resources already available on this topic on sites such as Twinkl and Teachers Pay Teachers which allowed for extra learning experiences.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? It has encouraged the students to become more involved with the school garden but also starting or helping out with their own gardens at home.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It has promoted an inquisitiveness in the students to think about different or unusual fruits and vegetables and how they grow.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Working with Michelle Ducat our Enviro Schools resource person from Sustainability Trust. She's coming to school to talk to our classes about Mulching, making simple irrigation systems, establishing a worm farm and composting.

My class was thrilled to receive the Garden Kit and to be able to have their own seeds to raise. In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We ran out of time to do everything we had planned but there was lots of literacy reading books, writing about the seeds, science - seed germination, maths - measuring the plants, cooking recipes with fruit/veg

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The children want to grow some flowers so will probably start with sunflowers and also grow plants for the monarch butterflies.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? When we had our brain break every day we talked about what was a veggie and what was a fruit, what we should eat etc, we googled different sorts of fruit and veggies which they didn't know about which hugely increased their knowledge of fruit and veg.

“The children loved the idea of the club and being members of the club. We set up a tent as our clubhouse and the kids loved going in their clubhouse. They loved watering and looking after the seeds and knew exactly which ones they had planted. They really loved posting their letters and the letterbox was great as they would check it to see if there was mail, so they received all sorts of letters.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We discussed the needs of plants, read poems and stories about planting and health. It linked well to the sexuality unit which was about being healthy and assertive.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are now replanting our school garden so we will continue what the kits started.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We linked the planting to the food pyramid and we discussed our lunch boxes in relation to this every morning.

“The kits were well resourced and easy for the junior children to put together with the help of an adult. Only problem was we had lots of rain prior to the holidays so we weren't able to plant the seedlings out so some died during the holidays. I should have prepared them as soon as I got them. The children loved them and many have taken them home and planted them in their home garden and I get progress reports.”
