How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The kit enabled me to cover reading, oral language, writing, math's, art and science. For example we enjoyed learning to measure out the water and them seeing what happened to the soil tablet. The children loved reading and writing about the plants.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? As the classroom teacher we will continue on planting a variety of seeds and maybe bulbs. The children are far more aware of the different seeds and what they grow into and how we can use and eat them. We are looking at visiting our local community garden
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I am very happy with the kit and the information.
I apologize I thought I had already sent my information in.

Then across to the Health curriculum and healthy eating and technology as we had to make up covers for the plants once they were outside as we are stil
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Once the plants start producing food we will be able to make fritters or cakes, or sandwiches and other healthy food options. All of the curriculum areas will continued to be taught as once the plants are bigger there will be further teaching opportunitie
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We looked at where these items are placed on the food pyramid and why they are within that category. The discussions around why there was no junk food within this section of the pyramid as also a bonus.
These kits are a great way to get the students involved in gardening and teaching them how to look after their own individual plants as well as comparing them against others and promoting discussions on why some plants grow faster than others.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Children wrote about their plants, shared photos from home, measured growth. Researched what plants need to grow. It prompted reading around plants and vegetables as well.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? As I mentioned above it has lead into learning about our natural environment and how we can enhance it. If we hadn't had the COVID interruption we would have been able to delve deeper into nutrition and eating and maybe do a plant to plate scenario.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Due to COVID I felt we did not get as long as we needed before the break to delve into using it for healthy eating and nutrition.
I am a teacher of 5year olds and they loved the Little Garden League kit. We had a number of classes in the school doing this and my children loved being in the playground and seeing other children with the badge on like them. The plants grew well in the class although with the COVID interruption is was harder to start this and they don't grow as much as I would have liked before the school holidays. It has lead into further learning for us this term around, plants, the living world and lizards etc living in our school environment. I thought the matching game was excellent and it all prompted some interesting discussions around food, and where it comes from. This ties into the daily discussions we have at fruit break time around what constitutes a fruit or vegetable (Nothing out of a packet typically). The parents in my class loved this learning as it reinforced healthy eating and learning about growing food. At the end of the term each child took home 2 plants and we have had pictures of them growing at home.

We planted ours a little later on as our end of term was very chaotic. It's been great incorporating this into our class learning and getting our class vege garden ready

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Children are still talking about their plants. We have used the growing of vegetables as a springboard to talk about growing other things in garden
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? My children are more aware of the importance of eating more vegetables on a daily basis. It was inspiring to hear them talking about the vegetables they had in their lunchboxes and the vegetables that they had tried eating at home.
WOW!! Thank you New World and School Kit for an amazing kit. What an opportunity for our children to be part of this experience. My class of Year 2's absolutely loved planting, watching and caring for their plants. They loved the titles that were given to each plant and got a real kick when I referred to them by their plant title. We had so much fun matching plants to names, learning which were herbs, which grew above the group and which grew below the ground. Our favourite activity was a blind tasting of some of the vegetables. This was an awesome opportunity for the children to become hooked on growing their own vegetables. THANK YOU.
