In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Lots of activities within the writing programme. Technology - building the garden. Science - plants, learning about growing plants, what plants need to grow etc. Physical health - keeping ourselves safe, healthy eating and awareness etc. Maths - measu
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Continuing on healthy eating and nutrition as this supports our keeping ourselves safe and healthy programme. Will look at getting some more plants into the classroom as well. Cooking and baking when the plants have finished growing.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We talked about healthy eating and the food pyramid. Talked about what makes us healthy. Supporting our journey as we continue this into the next term.
A great programme for the children - linked to home as well as many of the children were participating in this programme at home.

The students were really engaged. They enjoyed the game. Unfortunately overwatering occurred so some students were disappointed.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Writing activities, Science - parts of a plant and what plants need to grow. Reading Non-fiction texts about plants etc.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Utilizing our school garden more.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It has made them aware of more vegetable and where they come from. Great process for the children to follow. Plants seeds and watching them grow.
A great kit to support the classroom with lots of practical ways that involve the children learning about where plants come from. More ideas for cross curricular activities. Children really enjoyed learning about plants and the benefits of them.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? History- how people in the past have subsistence farmed and the impact of supermarkets.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Heirloom varieties and the differences in fruit and produce today. Processed food vs whole food Self sufficiency.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students were very keen to taste the little plants especially new seedlings they hadn’t seen or heard of before. Many went home and asked if they could buy herbs.
The kids were thrilled and lived being part of a club. I loved all of it from a teaching point of view except for the cards. They could have had little messages and I felt it was an opportunity lost. The kids were keen to look after the seedlings and interested in what germinated first.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Has linked perfectly with our work about our families and how we link to NZ and the land when early settlers had to grow their own food when they arrived in nz.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will be discussing how people used the land and changes to how people use the land in our area. The students will be planting their plants in our class garden to share as meal when they ready to eat.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Through discussions the students have had and the letters they wrote saying they were healthy eaters so therefore should be in the club.
the students were engaged from the moment the box arrived with the suspense and predictions of what could be in the box. Was a great way for students to talk about the vegies they knew and had tried (we had tried lots earlier in the year with making vegie soup). Knowing they grow in the garden has been exciting and watching the students run in every morning to check their plants.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Science - from paddock to plate. PE - Health benefits from eating vegetables. Writing - what occurred once the vegetables have reached maturity, opinion - what vegetables do you like and why.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Unfortunately I think the plan probably needed to be longer to comment on, as there was no opportunity to eat what they had planted due to timing.
A great kit, and the kids loved the secret aspect of the plan.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Making food associated with the plants students are growing, even if they haven't fully bloomed, bringing in samples to try and create with.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The excitement of the gardening and caring for a seeding, has spiked an interest in the students. This discussion around what you could cook with the food and finding recipes is broadening their thinking.
What a great resource that is both interesting and hands on/practical resource that really engages the students to not only participate, but to learn new skills around caring for plants and how growing your own can be both exciting and rewarding.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We talked a lot about the process of planting which links to science. We also did a lot of writing (literacy). Some guided writing but a lot of self motivated stuff was done by the kids e.g. writing letters to the vegetables, writing observations.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The gardening and the cooking of those vegetables.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Learning about a variety of vegetables. Planting the actual vegetables makes the children more excited about tasting them.
Great resources and the children engaged most with the different characters!! They had personalities. There were maybe a little too many that we could only focus on.
