In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Statistics in math's, writing, science. A good number of opportunities arose from being involved in this.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Knowing how plants are grown , can move to flowers etc. We are establishing a herb garden at school.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They were introduced to vegetables and herbs they had never heard of or tasted before. Great discussion and exploration of food tasting and the different ways a vegetable is cooked and how it affects the taste of the vegetable.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Looking at sciences, Maaori - bring the outside to the indoors etc. Language used, numeracy - how many plants we had.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Spending more time with them and the resources, showing the seasons that they are planted in. Looking at companion gardens. The list could be endless.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students enjoyed the planting and caring for the plants. Most are very selective with what they eat and most would not partake in the veges or herbs, however we send the end product home to the families.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? It definitely crossed over with literacy learning. New vocab was explored and it gave the children something to write about during writing time.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We talked about growing our own food and sustainability. This is something that is so important for the children to learn. I would like to teach them about the global climate crisis and how eating less meat and growing more plants and vegetables will help

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students are more aware now of what is healthy and unhealthy. We talked about good foods and how they help us to grow and other treat foods which should be had occasionally. It was interesting to hear them talking about what was in their lunchbox and

“This was a wonderful kit! The children were so engaged with it. I loved being able to teach them about seeds and planting. Some great discussions were created through the little gardens kit and new vocab words were explored.”
