How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Literacy/Science/Health strong cross over
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? maintaining our school garden, Cooking and preparing, sharing food from both a maths and cultural perspective
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? My students had a good understanding of the importance of eating vegetables but many had only ever tried a very narrow selection and this certainly supported the students to try new things.
Thank you so much School Kit and New World for the LGL Kit, this has been a real hit in my Year 3 class. Our seedlings have flourished and have now been planted in our School Garden and we are hoping to celebrate and harvest some of our crops before the end of the year. My students particularly enjoyed being part of a secret club and we certainly had a lot of fun cracking codes and sharing a huge variety of vegetable jokes and riddles(some very funny ). My students took very seriously the question of how to encourage their peers to try new tastes and had a lot of suggestions as to how they might support each other with this challenge. This has meant a lot of sharing of recipes, food tricks from their homes and sharing of how some members feel when faced with trying something new. From a teachers perspective this kit has provided me with lots of fun new opportunities to introduce new literacy and science ideas and concepts. I also found the students drawing on some of their experiences from the Respectful Relationships Kit to some of the more challenging ideas in this kit. Fabulous as always . In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? My Year 1 team created a unit which focussed on plants and how they grow so the School Kit integrated perfectly into the unit and I integrated the coded messages into a reading activity.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have planted the Little Garden seedlings into our Year group veggie garden and will continue to nuture them to hopefully produce some edible produce for the children.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We discussed new vegetables in the classroom that was promoted by the characters of the LGL. The challenge of trying a new vegetable also got some children coming to school telling me about what they had tried.
My class of year 1 children loved this. They really got into the concept and loved the Secret Garden League with the application to become a member and the badge they wore proudly. Initially, I wondered how they would find the coded messages but this was something they all loved and asked me constantly if I had recieved another message. This kit was awesome! Thanks School Kit and New World.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We used this school kit to talk what fruit and vegetables we enjoy eating and the process from 'garden to plate'. The children learned about what vegetables are grown in the ground and which are grown above the ground.
The little garden school kit was amazing! The children enjoyed the fantastic mysterious build up and got really into the role play element of being a part of the 'Little Garden League'. I found it was easy to follow due to the great paper instructions and extra resources via the website. The secret codes from HQ were an awesome way to keep the enthusiasm alive. We loved it!

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? How to eat the vegetable we planted and what the taste is like could be another area I can further develop in the future.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Maybe attach an easy read and simple information notice to explain why we eat these vegetables and the nutrition each plant has.
LGL kit saved me time to prepare and get ready of this spring plant activity. It included all the resources I need for my classroom. The students loved to participate in LGL activity. They love the hands-on experience and were interested in finding out what plant they choose. It is great to share the photos of LGL program with the parents.

Room 3 at Marton School were very intrigued by the secret club and wanted to know more about it. They were keen and eager right from the start. The kids really enjoyed planting the seedlings and watching them grow. Each morning they come in to see who's has grown the most overnight. They measure and compare the heights of the seedlings.

This was our first school kit and it was throughly enjoyable. The children were so excited when the big box arrived and equally excited when a new code to crack magically appeared in the letter box (thanks to our school secretary). We have children from 5 years to 8 years in our class and this provided learning opportunities for them all.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We had lots of whole class discussions about healthy eating and how cool it is to grow your own food. Room 15 were very excited by our secret surprise delivery. This promoted lots of oral language, when we all had to guess what might be in there. Once opened the children enjoyed listening to the Little Garden League story. The children loved the challenge of our club quiz we created and receiving their official club badge. The gardening was super fun, this was their favourite part. Learning the names of all the seeds we were growing and then the watering every day and waiting. Adding stickers into our sticker book and learning all the names of each vegetable on the poster. I'm not sure who loved it more , the children or the teachers. This was my first school kit and it was so awesome. I am so thankful for your wonderful sponsor New World.
