In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We had an exciting 'taste testing' day where all students chose two vegetables they had never tried. It was very fun and they were excited to try new vegetables!

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? When they grow big enough we will be transferring these seedlings to our school garden, so the learning will continue and we will be able to taste our plants and continue to watch them grow.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? It fit in well with visual art, students tried sketching fruit and vegetable baskets. We looked into plant needs and the plant cycle (Science). The students wrote a journal (literacy) to make notes about what they were doing and how their seeds were growi

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Next term we will continue to use what we have learnt to write explanations about how plants grow or the plant cycle. The plan is also to try some different vegetables and look at recipes that they can use at home. Some students are also keen on learning

It got them talking about balancing the types of foods they eat and that there are a variety of ways to eat vegetables and fruits. They spoke about how their parents try and hide vegetables in their meals so they don't realise that they're eating them.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I work with 5 year olds and it was fantastic to see how keen they were to try vegetables and also discover some new ones that they had never heard of before.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students are more aware of the different types of vegetables and how they can be easily grown in their own space at home. They are more aware of the importance of trying new things that they haven't tried before.

“Students demonstrated a lot of interest in the little plants and the codes. They thought it was great that we were growing them before they came out in the supermarket - this made them feel special. It was also good to learn about veggies that they didn't know about. Growing them to harvest was a bit difficult because of our time frame but all students got to take theirs home which they liked. The badges were a good idea but they broke easily.”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Lots of ideas about effective ways to grow food at school for our technology focus.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They realised that there are a lot of veges they don't eat at home. They tried new things and some went home to tell thier families about healthy, yummy vegetables. We made a big pot of soup which the kids loved.

The children have really enjoyed the responsibility of watering the plants and watching them grow. Some have been talking about setting up a vege gard

“The class has really enjoyed the little garden kit. We have had lots of conversations about vegetable and vegetable gardens at home. We have talked about how some vegetables take more time to grow than others. This kit made it really easy for me as the teacher to spark interest and get the students engaged in the learning. Everyone in the class was involved and we are planning to continue learning next term with our own small vegetable garden outside our classroom. This also tied in nicely with our worm farm trip where the class went to our local community gardens and learned about worms and made their own worm farm.”
