What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Seasonal growing - what plants to grow in which seasons, learning about herbs - what they go with and are used for and learning that different plants take different amounts of time to grow before they are ready to be eaten.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students are very keen to watch their plant grow and see what they taste like which is great for getting them to try new vegetables and herbs on dishes.

“The students loved planting their little gardens and are keenly watching them grow. They each have their own plant that they are taking care of. They were transplanted into our school garden just before the holidays. We have measured them to see how fast they are growing.”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have a community garden here at our school so the children will be able to grow their vegies on and also hopefully supply families in our community.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Becoming more aware of the range of vegetables available.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The kit will continue to support our Ag Day in term 4. The children are hoping to plant vegetables in our school garden.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The children enjoyed solving the codes and we went on to de-code their names. We used Te Reo to name the vegetables included in the kit. We read other books and wrote stories about our favourite vegetables.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Lots of new games - memory, bingo, code breaking.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We incorporated the resources from the project energise team - healthy lunch boxes (go, grow, glow foods) and sugary drinks. At food break times we would talk about foods that could be incorporated.

“This kit was fantastic! We loved the mystery of it all, and it encouraged my littles to try a range of new vegetables throughout the weeks that we participated. I also had some awesome feedback from parents about their kids asking for vegetables to be served alongside their dinner. We celebrated bravery (for some of my kids, this was the first time they'd eaten a vegetable of their own accord) and created our own art around the 'class picture' that was sent in the pack.
