In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The kit lent itself to our science, maths (measurement), health, reading and writing.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Planting the seedlings in the school garden and sharing our knowledge and produce with the other children.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children have been encouraged to try some different vegetables (clue 3 was great for this too). It has also high lighted a need as many children did not know what a lot of the vegetables were.

“My class is year 3 and 4 and they really enjoyed participating in the LGL. They completed their application and loved having their club 'interview'. At this level the children were motivated to solve the clues and to get the next clue. They are enjoying growing the plants, reading the stories/articles and we are looking forward to planting the seedlings in the school garden after the holidays. Thanks so much for the opportunity to New World for us to be able to participate in this activity.”

We used it with Literacy - reading, talking and watching the videos provided by School Kit. Numeracy -counting the days for them to sprout, measuring heights. What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We would like to plant our own garden outside our classroom. The children were also very interested in the editable flowers.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Room 11 loved planting the seeds and talking about the different types of vegetables. Many children went home and talked about what they had planted and were more willing to try new veggies.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students knew most of the fruit and veges but it was good that some were new to them. Most were good at trying new food put in front of them.

It was very easy to set up and get the programme running in the class and the students were excited to see their seedlings starting to sprout. They were very excited to be members of the the 'secret club' and were keen to promote eating veges! They are eagerly awaiting planting their seedlings to see actual veges grow.”

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It has introduced new plants and herbs that children hadn't previously heard of.

“This kit is practical, engaging and rewarding. I enjoyed watching only 2 children figure out the code breaker and then go on to teach their peers. By the third code breaker task ALL children, of all abilities including ESOL and SEN, were engaged and attempting to break the code. The day of picking and planting their plant was a fun day where we were able to sit outside in the sun and work in groups to plant our seeds. Every day since we have eagerly watched 1, then 3, then 7 grew. And the excitement over the purple and red colours that emerged. A great kit, I would love to get this exact same kit every year!”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Learning about the key aspects of what living things need to survive. Also 5+ a day!

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We have had great discussion about the benefits of eating fruit and veges and now students are excited when they have these in their lunchboxes and cant wait to try some from our kit.
