In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It has introduced new plants and herbs that children hadn't previously heard of.

“This kit is practical, engaging and rewarding. I enjoyed watching only 2 children figure out the code breaker and then go on to teach their peers. By the third code breaker task ALL children, of all abilities including ESOL and SEN, were engaged and attempting to break the code. The day of picking and planting their plant was a fun day where we were able to sit outside in the sun and work in groups to plant our seeds. Every day since we have eagerly watched 1, then 3, then 7 grew. And the excitement over the purple and red colours that emerged. A great kit, I would love to get this exact same kit every year!”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The children are very interested in learning more about growing plants.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I think it did more for learning about how plants grow, although the children did develop more interest in vegetables.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? How to care for our environment, nurturing our plants and cooking what we have grown.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We looked more into plants using books from our school library which stated nutritional values of different vegetables. It also tied in very nicely with the life education caravan visiting our school where we learnt more about healthy eating and taking ca

“The children loved learning about the little garden league and different vegetables. They wore their badges with honour and it sparked a lot of conversation in the community. Each morning they would check on their seedlings and they enjoyed reading the chart for different grow times. They loved measuring their seedlings and honoring the code of grow, protect, taste. They really enjoyed the crack the code and kept asking when the next message from HQ was coming. They enjoyed the game and it allowed them to learn the different vegetable types. We turned it into a memory game. Students enjoyed tasting different vegetables and finding vegetable jokes to share with each other. Probably the best school kit yet! Thank you so much for this opportunity.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We incorporated sustainability/growing plants/healthy eating across all areas of learning, but mostly in writing.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Learning more about sustainability, and figuring out where our food comes from.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The kit introduced a range of writing topics for us. We learnt about a new range of vegetables that we can eat, and the different vitamins that different vegetables can provide.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Lots of language(vocab) was new to the children. We learned some science things like part of a plant and we posed questions that we could of experiment with... Can plants grow without soil or water or light? etc We used very basic measurement skills

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? As above - science concepts/experiments Children wanting to bake veges into muffins and cakes children want to grow more plants Im sure measurement could be extended out too.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children were prepared to try new plants. Many said 'no' at just the name but tried it anyway and found it okay. The herbs were not plants that they had knowledge of before this.

“Wow! Wow! Wow! impact plus! From the secret, through to growing and learning about the the plants we eat. Kids are still wanting to grow things at home and at school for next term. Highly motivating and colourful resources backed up with TV and supermarket promotion has put this at the forefront of learning.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Computational thinking with the code cracking. The kids went on to make their own codes. Health -when they submitted their application it was really cool hearing the children talk about their strengths.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Our inquiry next term is around goods and services. The little gardens were a great provocation for this.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students were able to name more vegetables and talked about what they had tried. The secret code really helped them to start trying new things.

“Was timely and engaging. The kids really liked the fact they were getting the little gardens at home too with the shopping.”
