What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We plan on cooking the veges we grow. Children gained general life skills around growing and cooking our own food.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The kit generated an interest in growing veges with will lead to an interest in trying to eat veges children haven't had before. Children became more aware of different veges - they had funny names too.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We have used this kit to promote some wonderful writing. The children have written What am I? riddles, character descriptions, labelling of diagrams etc.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The children are keen to develop our own school vegetable gardens and watch our vegetables grow.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children got to grow vegetables and herbs that they haven't tried before. By being part of the growing process the children are more likely to try these.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We would have liked to continue growing the seedlings as a class somewhere at school but we have nowhere at the moment to do this. Hopefully the children will be able to grow their little plants at home and keep the class updated after the school holidays

It was more about educating the students on various herbs and vegetables and what it takes for a plant to grow, rather than healthy eating. Hopefully it has made them interested in vegetables they haven't heard of or more willing to try the vegetables the

“The kids loved looking after and checking the progress of their seeds. It was their first go to stop each morning and would be the topic of conversation both among themselves and as a class, especially to see which seeds were sprouting the fastest. We did have a COVID only incident when the seedlings were sprayed with the class's disinfectant rather than the water bottle. Not sure if this was the reason why some seeds didn't sprout.”

“We are both impressed and grateful for our little garden. It came as a surprise that this excellent initiative was available, giving the students opportunities to discover vegetables that were unfamiliar along with their diverse foliage and growth rates. Before planting the seeds the discussions began regarding why the seeds had not germinated already and what exactly did they need? Everyday has brought new thoughts as change happens right before our eyes. This resource cannot be over-rated. It contains all the ingredients for nourishing our students brains as their actions impact upon something that is now obviously alive. The analogies are endless, timely and VERY much appreciated.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We were able to write about what we did, talk about it, create posters, search for and cook recipes, measure and predict. We sorted, we tried new foods.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are going to grow other seedlings to sell at our annual market night. We have also bought seed potatoes and have had those in since before we started the Little Gardens.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students realised they could grow things and eat healthy vegetables from their garden, they don't have to come from the shop!
