What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We grew our LGL plants at school - some children wanted to take them home to be grown, others will be planted in our school garden. I also had some plants donated to me - these were sent home as a 'gift' for someone special. The children have been asked
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The kit and videos prompted great discussion and awareness:- We looked at the school garden and identified some of the plants that were in the programme. Looked at lunchboxes, healthy food and 'sometimes' foods. Talked about favourite veges and favour
Adaptable programme for different age groups with enough plants for every child to be involved. (I adapted the LGL member application letter - I used a phonics lesson using different vegetable words as the basis to be the 'test' to join the club.) Very comprehensive website with a wealth of resources and information. It is so good to have the links in one place for easy reference. (Thanks for saving busy teachers time by locating quality resources for us!) The BADGES!! so popular with the kids - well done for including plenty so each child could have a choice of badge.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Writing responses, oral language
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? A great way to build connections between school and home
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They learned some new vegetable names and were interested to find out more
Amazing free resource, kids were excited about the little gardens and the badges. More interested in the planting than the secret club. Was maybe a bit to elaborate for my Y1 class. A lot of excitement watching to see them sprout, some good conversations around what plants need and why some might have sprouted before others.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Writing, reading, artwork, health and science( we have labeled plants and a bit of maths with measurement.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Awaiting the development of seeds into mature plants to enhance further learning activities.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We have talked about it and shared what they like and why. We have written about it in various ways. Some children didn't know some of the names and different types. Now they do. We hope to plant the seedlings out into our garden plot at school. When they
The paper name labels need to be changed. They just fall out. We don't know what we have in some cases until they grow. The tray was hard to read and I know it is compostable but it got moldy and smelly in the classroom. Maybe next time it would be great perhaps to include ice block sticks to put each childs name on and what the plant is. Or a stick with the name of the plant with room to put students name on. We have transferred seedlings to another tray now and some are ready to transfer into bigger pots but not sure of some of them.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used this as a spring-board for science (plants) and in particular looked at what plants need to grow and how some veges grow above the ground and some grow below ground. This led into some lovely art-work. The growing guide provided had a maths elemen
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Continuing to care for our seedlings and planning another shared lunch with the produce grown. Code-cracking. Some of our students loved this.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The planting guide, game and coded messages were a great way to introduce students to new vegetables and for them to identify vegetables. It led well into researching recipes and making and sharing a vegetable based lunch. Students showed a positive attit
This was a well-considered resource with a great practical component. The timing was perfect for us leading into planting season of our school gardens and coinciding with attaining our Bronze Award as an enviroschool. The students loved the undercover element - and the badges were a hit!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We have covered measurement and DMIC problems using the LGL. Also in topics we have learnt about bees and worms which has tied in well with this topic.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Revamping our gardens. Using past bee and worm knowledge to expand our learning. Taste testing will also be in there with healthy eating.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We haven’t moved in to this yet.
Prior to receiving our LGL kit we were studying worms so to follow in to this kaupapa was great. The whole class planted the seeds and we have been watching them grow daily. We have since looked and planned out outside garden to cater to our seeds and that will be our main kaupapa when we head into term four. The tamariki enjoy watering feeding and repotting our radishes so for but this has been a great learning for them and myself as I’m not to good with growing things. I would love for each school to participate in this kaupapa and get the tamariki on board at a young age. Plenty of learning in this kit.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Knowledge of vegetables, Possible willingness to try new foods (will have to wait and see when plants have grown!)
Pack arrived early and have us plenty of time to familiarise ourselves with the programme. Resource was great, although felt uncomfortable with the whole secret-ness of the club, required modifying to allow/encourage chn to tell their parents (good/bad secrets etc!) Applying for membership and having to pass a test was cool a chn were excited and nervous!! Kids loved the secret messages to decode - highly motivational. Plants are always a fun thing to do with students...they really enjoyed it. Were really motivated to wear their badges (although these were quite flimsy and required lots of repairs...)

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? So much writing motivations, learning new songs and performing dances, art based on the founding members - and that's just some of the things!
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The tamarki took their plants home and I am looking forward to updates! We can use the Grow, Protect, Taste motto to reinforce the healthy eating sentiment.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Knowledge of veges and herbs dramatically improved. Having the motto and performing the pledge left little room for 'I don't think I'd like that.'
Wow weasel! This is my first ever kit and I am blown away! The scope for incorporating this into my class was huge. I loved seeing all the other little things people were doing on Facebook - and magpied some cool things. My learners were very engaged and motivated by the growing plants, code crackers, and the secrecy of joining the LGL! Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing School Kit!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Used the code crackers during reading, had writing opportunities to write about the different LGL characters, maths - measuring out how far to plant the seedlings.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? I think we will continue to use the memory game I made with the characters, as well as the provided game. The children may make their own coded messages.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? How easy it is to grow your own vegetables and keep healthy.
The Little Garden League was an engaging concept for our Year 2/3 tamariki. They loved the idea of being in a 'secret' club and making the pledge to join. The badges were worn with pride everyday and our seedlings have been taken care of on a daily basis since planting. Working out the secret codes has also been a highlight and learning the names of the different vegetables. Tūī Learning Hub say thank you so much for providing the seedlings and resources.
