How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Students did independent inquiries into their plants and presenting their findings. We also did math equations using fruit and vegetables.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Looking at healthy eating. How to care for plants and trees. How bees affect plants etc.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? My students think more about the food in their lunch boxes. Since we have had different vegetable tastings in class, I have seen an increase in fruit and vegetables being consumed at break time.
My class loved these kits! They were so engaged throughout the term, wanting to know when the secret code was coming out! They really liked caring for their own plant and checking its growth each day. My students enjoyed researching different vegetables and trying new vegetables. Well done! Looking forward to the next kit!

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We grew our LGL plants at school - some children wanted to take them home to be grown, others will be planted in our school garden. Adaptable programme for different age groups with enough plants for every child to be involved. (I adapted the LGL member application letter - I used a phonics lesson using different vegetable words as the basis to be the 'test' to join the club.) Very comprehensive website with a wealth of resources and information. It is so good to have the links in one place for easy reference. (Thanks for saving busy teachers time by locating quality resources for us!) The BADGES!! so popular with the kids - well done for including plenty so each child could have a choice of badge.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They learned some new vegetable names and were interested to find out more
Amazing free resource, kids were excited about the little gardens and the badges. More interested in the planting than the secret club. Was maybe a bit to elaborate for my Y1 class. A lot of excitement watching to see them sprout, some good conversations around what plants need and why some might have sprouted before others.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We have talked about it and shared what they like and why. We have written about it in various ways. Some children didn't know some of the names and different types. Now they do. We hope to plant the seedlings out into our garden plot at school. When they
The paper name labels need to be changed. They just fall out. We don't know what we have in some cases until they grow. The tray was hard to read and I know it is compostable but it got moldy and smelly in the classroom. Maybe next time it would be great perhaps to include ice block sticks to put each childs name on and what the plant is. Or a stick with the name of the plant with room to put students name on. We have transferred seedlings to another tray now and some are ready to transfer into bigger pots but not sure of some of them.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? There was a great science focus around the health and wellbeing of the plant life cycles and we explored mathematical concepts around measurement and retelling learning through literacy.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Future learning would definitely be a greater school wide focus on horticulture. We would love to get more whanau involved on a bigger scale by re-establishing our school/community garden and perhaps learning about tree care for our current fruit trees.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Gardening, cultivating their own gardens and planning. There was alot of science involved in the little garden work; soil science, plant science and animal science. the unit also links nicely to a bee study and the impt of bees in the gardening world.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I think it highlights to the chn how big and how much scope there is in eating within the vegetable range. There are so many vegetables and because we had younger chn they weren't even sure of some of the vegeable and flower names but after being invovled
These kids were fantatic; the children loved learning about growing vegetables and they coincided with us planting our pumpkins for the harvest festival in the Autumn. The chn were able to learn the skills and fundamentals about growing which quite a few of them took a step further and got involved in gardening at home. We loved the selection of seedlings available and the children loved comparing the seedlings timing; I have kept a few going in the gardens at school so the chn can follow the progress of them.
